About
Sammy has been playing 6 & 12 string guitars for about 25 years. He grew up in Sydney with Egyptian parents, and drawing from this has blended a subtle mix of Middle Eastern and western influences into distinctive sound that is his own. Sam's love of music and traditional cultures has taken him on extensive travels throughout the world. He has travelled throughout India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, Iran, Turkey, Japan, Thailand & Laos and these experiences are reflected in his musical and lyric compositions.
He has colaborated with Cye Wood (Violin), Zia Islam (tabla), Jacqueline Freeman (Guitar and vocals) & Shai Shriky(Oud, Guitar, percussion) amongst others.
He has composed and produced music for the album "Harness the Flame" and has had music used for the documentary "Motorcycle Karma".
Sammy is currently undertaking a Bachelor of Contemporary Music/ Bachelor of Education degree and is also producing and presenting a weekly world music radio show called, "Around the World in Infinite Ways" on BayFM in Byron Bay.
