Domenica signs to The Agency Group

Toronto, ON - Less than a month away from their hard rockin' debut album release of The Luxury, Domenica is thrilled to announce that they have been signed by The Agency Group for their live representation in Canada. www.theagencygroup.com/domenica

The Luxury was produced by Juno Award winning producer Brandon Friesen, co-production shared on three tracks with famed P.O.D. guitarist Marcos Cureil, and mastered by Tom Baker (NIN, Billy Talent), The album was recorded at 441 Studios in Winnipeg as well as at Matt Sorum's (Guns 'n' Roses, Velvet Revolver) private Hollywood studio. Set for release on September 15, 2009 through C12/EMI, the band is set to take on Canada with their impressive hard rock show.

Over the past five years, Domenica has straddled the line between hook-filled rock and metalcore. Hitting stages throughout their homeland of Canada, numerous tours of the United States and various showcases in Europe, the band has been steadily impressing music fans and gaining enthusiastic industry support in territories such as Germany and Japan where The Luxury is set for release in late 2009. Front-woman Bekki Friesen has been stirring up attention from various blogger forums commenting on how impressed her fans are that a "hot rocker chick can also shred on guitar as she does with ease". With songs including the first single "Above Me" and the catchy "I Love My Gun", Domenica layers melodic vocals alongside hard rocking guitar riffs and solid rhythms. Last year the band hit the road with Papa Roach, and has steadily continued their live performances with recent summer tour dates across North American in support of The Luxury.

Domenica was a group who were the first band to completely rock my face off. There stood this tall blonde bombshell in a black t-shirt, a pair of black pants in black boots. It’s no wonder this girl used to be a model. She could pull any look off. However, it wasn’t her style I was paying attention to. It was her ability to completely rock out with a backing band of boys who I assumed felt lucky enough to be playing grunge metal with her. Tight beats from the drummer, good distortion on the bass, and a nice pair of guitars playing off of each other had finally made the me feel a little more at home in the Whiskey. Although the distortion on the bass got a little old after a while (on every song), I loved the fact that this former model was telling a audience consisting mostly of males to “Shut your fucking mouth.” She had an excellent balance of having gorgeous and the usual grunge metal vocals. Although I think a band fronted by such an awesome female could have a better name, I’d put Domenica up there with Tool.

Domenica Leaves Jaws Agape with "Shut Your Mouth"

Now rockin’ the stage at the Whisky is Winnipeg-based quartet Domenica, fronted by the beautiful Bekki, whose guitar chops are as impressive as her looks. Their head-banging hard rock has captured the attention of the attendees, with quite a few players from other MUSEXPO bands hangin’ out by the stage and obviously enjoying the show. It’s easy to see why: the lead guitarist, bassist and drummer are monster musicians in their own right, displaying a lot of energy onstage that’s being reciprocated by the audience. One of the highlights was a song where they slowed it down a bit--“But it’s still a scorcher,” Bekki promised--the tune “Like Me,” which showcased Bekki’s keen lyrical sense and delivery. They amped the energy back up with “I’ve Got My Gun,” with Bekki wailing over a brutal backbeat and inspired six-string work, following up with the song "Shut Your Mouth," which despite said title left many jaws agape. Anyone that may have been feeling a wee bit drowsy before the set is definitely awakened now by the aural caffeine that is Domenica

So we had a great couple of weeks on the road! Thanks so much to all of you who came out to party, it's always nice to put real faces to the profile pics haha!

As you can see I just started booking a ton of new dates for July, so stay tuned, tell your friends-- we'll be back through soon :)

Also, I've got some video and pics to upload...unfortunately my camera's in Helsinki at the moment lol. Check back in a couple weeks for that!

We're a "Winnipeg artist to watch" in 2009!

Along with Comback Kid sideproject "Sights and Sounds", Domenica has been named 1 of the Uniters " 5 Peg bands to watch in 2009"! Check out the pic posted in the press album!

Over the past five years, Domenica have won over fans in Winnipeg and abroad with their inventive, hook-filled modern rock. 2008 was a busy year for the four-piece. After recording in Los Angeles with P.O.D.’s Marcos Curiel, the band headed to Europe, playing the Popkomm festival in Berlin and the Musexpo conference in London. Their hard work seems to be paying off, the group is currently in the process of inking major distribution deals in Australia and Germany. Their debut record, dropping spring 2009, features some of the band’s most polished work to date; the first single, “I Love My Gun,” features some slippery guitar lines and showcases Bekki Friesen’s skills as a vocalist.
