Friend of the Devil

We've just uploaded a version of Friend of the Devil for your enjoyment. As with all of our songs, this was a live take not done in a studio. Ben and I sat down and played through it from start to finish and this is that we came up with. We're finally starting to get a bit of polish on things and I hope you're as excited as we are about this.

Jack Straw is rounding into shape very nicely as is Truckin' and The Other One. Happily, we both discovered that Sugar Mag is something we both want to do but just never got around to actually trying. Add another to the list.

Working hard or hardly working

We've been working hard to try and add songs to the repertoire. The idea is to have at least two completely different set lists to choose from, this way you won't get bored by hearing the same songs over and over every time you come to see us. Isn't it great how we think of our fans. :-)

A couple of songs, HAH!

Yesterday I said that I wanted to add a couple of songs to the list of things we do. I had planned on only adding two and working on things. Well, things didn't go exactly as planned, we worked over seven new tunes last night and discussed a dozen more.

Alabama Getaway
Jack Straw
Big Railroad Blues
L’il Red Rooster
Brown Eyed Women
Truckin’
The Other One

Rehearsal tonight

Back to the grind for us tonight. One of the things I want to address is our mix. We've been having a terrible time trying to get it right without a sound guy. What I really need is a wireless mic so that I can go stand out front to sing and hear exactly what is coming through the PA. The other thing is that I want to introduce a couple of new songs this evening. We need to continue to build our repertoire so that we have something fresh every time people come to see us.

Welcome to Paper Canoe

We're still getting our feet underneath us here but we plan on keeping everyone informed as to what we're doing. Right now we've got a couple songs up for your enjoyment and I hope to get some cuts from our 7/11/2010 performance up here soon.
