new year, new demos, still "workin for the devil"

hey everyone,

i know were almost a month in, but happy new year! i hope you all had as good a time as we did. new years is definately one of the best piss-ups of the year, up there with st. patricks day and midsummer.

so whats new, whats been going on, whats in the pipeline?
we spent the weekend in the studio recording a few new tracks; "getaway", "workin for the devil" and "number one" (a video clip of which you may already have seen on youtube or through our site). Theyre still not properly mixed yet, but are starting to sound pretty decent, i think anyway. We have a few more songs which were working on like "the front man" which we hope to finish and record soon, and get them up on the site and add them to our set.

what else? weve got a photo gallery up on the main site (www.meettheescape.com) and we also filmed our gig at mejeriet in december which were hoping to try to make a video out of at some point and get it up on the site.

we appreciate all the feedback weve been getting lately, so keep that coming!

how about gigs? weve got a few gigs lined up around here coming up, and obviously as always trying to add to that as much as possible. check the main site for gigs.

steppin it up to the next level pt2

so feeling like that was a pretty stupid idea, but still having already gone that far we decided to keep going, so we bought some vodka off some tramps and went to a pub called The Scotsman in Olso for about 5 hours and had some food and loads and loads of beer and jaegermeister and were soon on top form again, so we bought a guitar from the bartender and sat out on the street playing and singing as loudly as we could until we were asked to move, so we found a big bronze tiger, which of course made us think of the Dio song, so we climbed onto it and started singing "ride the tiger, you can see his stripes but you know hes clean, dont you know what i mean", then we decided to go drammen cos that was the next train, so we went there, only to realise that we had nothing particular to do there, so we hitchhiked with a guy called andrew for 3 hours to a place called Gjövik which was fun, again got even drunker, and the next thing i remember is lying on the floor of a bathroom in the recovery position puking my guts out. Next morning we had that horrible feeling in our stomachs when you know youve done something bad, so we decided it was time to go home to malmö. we never got there. instead we started talking ourselves into keeping going, so we made it to helsingborg and then got the ferry to copenhagen (onboard we bought a fuck load more jaegermeister and beer) and got shit-faced again. not really sure what happened next, but there was a point where i think we agreed to fly to new zeeland the next day to help some guy sail his boat home to norway, fortunately we got too drunk and forgot. next morning we felt even worse and finally managed to make it home....good couple of days i think. beat that one!

Also if you want us to come and play near you then let us know and suggest a venue and we'll do our best, right now our range is about denmark/sweden/norway but we'd love to play in germany if we could sort our a few gigs in a row there.

not much else to say, but keep listening and watch this space, were working very hard and trying to take the next step up and make it. also one more thing (as i am english) COME ON ENGLAND!!! world cup final against south africa in the rugby world cup on saturday, you can do it jonny! go jonny go go!

steppin it up to the next level pt1

hey everyone,
lots of stuff been going on behind the scenes lately, and i thought i'd give you an update cos weve been a bit quiet lately.

Dirk has left the band cos he felt he didnt have enough time and didnt want to slow us down, which is a bit of a bummer but fair enough we think in hindsight that it was the right decision. We're currently trying out Wix from Dusty Diamond on the rhythm guitar.

Gigs are startin to come thick n fast, starting in a few weeks, but the latest is that we might be playing on the 27th oct here in lund as entertainment for some people coming over from Estonia i think. That should be good, weve also got a gig lined up at Mods, Lund, which is gonna be accoustic so it should be really interesting to see how that goes!

Not really much new in terms of songs, although we are working on getting a few finished, no plans for recording right now, but hopefully in the new year something should get done about that.

We also want to promote a gig at the famous Mejeriet in Lund for the 16th of dec i think it is, which will be a great gig, great venue, tickets are free, also a few other local bands are playing like edge of a circle, and jade.

As i said Wix from dusty diamond is playing with us now, and has been absolutely amazing, working very well on both the existing songs and helping to write a new song called 'The Front Man'. Also weve been gettin on well with him as a person cos hes fkn crazy! like a few weeks ago him and i were going to helsingborg to watch a gig at tivoli, but we got pretty trashed at my place in lund before leaving and missed our train, and ended up going via hässleholm, anyway, we got drunker and drunker and one thing lead to another and we ended up waking up really really hungover....in oslo!!!

nice boys dont play rock n roll!

we played our first gig of the new term on saturday which was suprisingly a huge success! i had managed to drink myself into oblivion the night before and was very hungover, as per usual unfortunately, peanut had a fever and thomas was, well thomas. also thomas turned up without a guitar so we had to borrow a guitar for him, also dirk couldnt make it so i played the 2nd guitar. still we played very well and were well received, it was really good and we had a great time!

also, we had fan tshirts for the first time provided by a few friends of the band with various tags like:

cos abba sucks
the way a rock n roll band should be
digging up the dirt
screwing their way to the top
the loudest thing out of sweden since dynamite
doing what jesus wouldn't do

so it was great! we also sold a few demos, infact ran out of demos to sell, so we'll soon be seen hijacking a xerox machine near you for more cover sleeves. we watched a few other bands play and imparticular 'edge of a circle' played very well.

were trying to book a few gigs in denmark at the moment, also talking to sydskånska nation, lund, trying to get to play at their 'Dirty Frank' rock-club where i work occassionaly, as well as trying to get an accoustic gig at 'Mods' in Lund, so if you feel like doing us a favour then let them know that you want us to play there, we'd really appreciate it.

we also got some pics taken at the gig by our legendary photographer Ufuk Kirik, which are now up on the myspace site www.myspace.com/meettheescape

we've also finally got some songs up on our main website www.meettheescape.com -where you can use something called a widget to post all our songs anywhere you like on the internet, please use them on your own myspace, bloggs, own websites etc. it'd be really cool of you to help promote us, its pretty tough doing it all on your own. you can also sign up for our fanbase thing on meettheescape.com so that you can get the latest news on gigs, merchandise, songs etc.

so lets see what there is to say.
we've all survived the summer, some pretty crazy shit happened to all of us, i personally went backpacking round europe for like 5 weeks and ended up meeting loads of new people, loads of drinkin in new places and infact ended up sleepin on the streets a few times, which was fkn scary shit, still its given me plenty to write about in songs to come, lots of which are starting to materialse and basic demos have been recorded which im startin to rehearse with the band. Im just so glad to be back in lund now after having been away for far too long.

Wanna say thanks to everyone i met, i had a great time!

so im back in lund, been rehearsing with the guys, and actually got recognised in malmö at the weekend which was absolutely fantastic, proudest moment of my life.

i personally am as broke as an amsterdam-hookers arsehole on a friday night just after happy hour right now. cant afford the rent or even food for that matter, fuck it though, i still got my guitars and the state will have to pry them out of my cold dead fingers!

anyway, on the music front, we have a bunch of new songs which were working on; a song called 'my suicide' about the kind of girl everyones had; rocks your world on a good day and just drives you nuts on a bad day! another is 'Getaway' which is a kinda feel-good 'lets getaway tonight' kind of song. Also got a slower moving bluesy song called 'soft-porn' in the works, as well as a few big rocksongs.

also, we're now selling The Escape t-shirts and if you don't speak swedish and want one just let us know and we'll send you a guide for clicking your way to your very own. We've already sold about a dozen.

We're lining up a bunch of gigs right now, got one booked in december in Malmö (check website), and let us know if you've got any suggestions or want us to play in your hometown, and i promise we'll get there if we can.

We're also workin on releasing a demo EP soon, with 3 or 4 songs, probably 'you wanna' and 'rollercoaster' will be on there as well as a couple of the new ones.
