May News and Where To Find The Birds

Wow, what a fantastic month it has been! We have been spreading the Mzaza love far and wide through a number of great gigs with fantastic support from both our fans and the media! Thanks, you guys rock!

Keep tuned to Triple J to hear us (on Thursday nights) and you can hear Pauline on 4ZZZ at 1.30pm 7th of May for updates on how things have been going and exciting events to come!

Also, we should mention that our hot little CD is now available at:

3 Monkeys Café - Is the best option for you locals!
58 Mollison St, West End 4101, (07) 3844 6045

Rocking Horse - Not bad either
245 Albert St, Brisbane City (CDs are in the shop NOW)
http://www.rockinghorse.net/

Big Cartel - The BEST online option for our buyers in Australia
http://mzaza.bigcartel.com

CD Baby - Better for our overseas buyers as CDs get posted from the US.
http://cdbaby.com/cd/mzaza

There you go, so now you know where to find our goodies! Outlets will keep multiplying. We hear that Itunes is on its way, so we will keep you updated.

You can check our schedule for upcoming gigs, notably the FO&N Concert on the 16th of May and our Greenfest and Queen St Mall appearances on the 5th and 7th of June.

And here is a lovely review we got:
http://lifemusicmedia.com/?p=2226

You might be interested by the little blog from Pauline (our singer) and Greta (our violinist) who give you the run down on what has been happening in Mzaza world. Here it is:

“Greta Kelly here, your Mzaza correspondent, coming to you from our West End headquarters...
Our honeymoon tour since Mzaza's Parliament of The Birds EP launch at the Press Club April 22nd has been a wonderful yet curious variety pack! Mzaza played an 80th birthday in Spring Hill, The Madass Folk Club in Annerley, and The Planting Festival at Woodford. Meanwhile I've been to Bundy and Lismore (and towns in between) on deep blue orchestra business. Bit of a busy patch!

Props go out to band manager extraordinaire who's just entered us into Big Sound (cross your fingers for us) and lined up a number of great gigs for the rest of the year including Greenfest, The Judith Wright Centre, Queen St Mall, and the odd Children’s Hospital charity gig (and many more but we have to keep them secret for now, so stay tuned!).

The best gig for me was the Planting Festival. Jordan drove us out Samford way in his big black comfy van under a golden sunset.

Woodford organizer Bill Hauritz and a Cimate Change speaker were warming up the audience for us ;) (who'd been planting trees around Woodford for the past two days). Then the African community did the official Ceremonial planting to the beat of the drums. Mzaza had a great time playing because Quentin the sound guy was onto it and because of all the swirly interpretive dancing going on down the front. Plus the Greenroom staff and backstage banter were so friendly.

Over to you Pauline...

(Pauline grabs the mic- this is how it goes when Greta and I do interviews together)
Yes, the Planting was really wonderful. The audience was fantastic and the vibe was great. A few of us were lucky to stay on for a jam around the fire and a few scotches. Didgeridoos, guitars, acoustic bases and percussion were whipped out and I had a bit of a sing, which was the perfect way to finish the day. We then ran off to get some sleep in our little Dongas (the rooms which the festival provided). We got to quickly catch up with the Rooftops and the Georgia Potter crew who were sharing the line-up with us, and we’re crossing our fingers that Woodford will have us at the end of the year so we can do a whole week that and more.”

Well, that’s all from us for now!
Thank you all for your good wishes and support, keep spreading the Mzaza word!

Much love.
