New ALBEDO Album "The Nutcracker" Released Today!

I'm very excited to announce that my brand new album “The Nutcracker” has just been released today! It's a New Age arrangement of the classical work "The Nutcracker" composed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. It contains acoustic instruments mixed with synthetics and orchestral samples. The music is similar in style to Mannheim Steamroller, Isao Tomita and Vangelis.

I picked 14 of my favorite songs from the famous ballet, and new-age-ified them. The woodwind solos on the album are played by myself, including the Soprano Recorder, Alto Recorder, Tenor Recorder, Oboe and Clarinet.

This is my 12th studio album, and is currently available in digital format on iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, Rhapsody, Bandcamp, plus more! The physical CD is available on CD Baby.

I'm very excited to announce that my new album has just been released! It's a New Age arrangement of the classical work The Planets, Op. 32, composed by Gustav Holst. It contains acoustic instruments mixed with synthetics and orchestral samples. The music is similar in style to Mannheim Steamroller, Isao Tomita and Vangelis.
This was a very ambitious project that has taken longer than any other album to produce. Space Probes Brand New ALBEDO Album! Just Released and Now Available.

My brand new album has just been released! It's a New Age album called "Space Probes". It contains musical interpretations of select space probes of achievement. Unmanned robotic spacecraft that explored astronomical objects in our solar system other than earth, and were the first successful flyby, orbiter, lander, rover or sample return missions. My new album "Magitek: Music from Final Fantasy VI" will go live on iTunes on November 22, 2013!

The album is a collection of songs by Nobuo Uematsu from Final Fantasy VI, recorded in a new age style similar to Mannheim Steamroller and Yanni. This album is the accumulation of hundreds of hours of hard work, and I hope you'll enjoy it whether you play video games or not. So, it really means a lot to me. THANK YOU VERY MUCH for being part of it!

Final Fantasy, for those of you who are unfamiliar, is a role playing video game series that was originally released for the Nintendo Entertainment System back in 1987. Final Fantasy VI is obviously the 6th game in the series and was released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1994. The music was written by Nobuo Uematsu. Who, by the way, is a big fan of the Fresh Aire series by Chip Davis of Mannheim Steamroller, and if you couldn't tell I am as well. You don't have to play the games to enjoy the music. Confession: Technically, I've never actually played the Final Fantasy games, but I love the music from them. So, I myself am a very good example of that. I'm familiar with the music because I know many people who have played the games, and I've also watched them being played many times.

ALBEDO Nominated for “Best Soundtrack Album” by Independent Music Awards

New Age Music Artist Albedo of Salt Lake City, UT has just been nominated for the “Best Soundtrack Album” award for his album “Forgotten Lands”. He joins more than 300 exceptional self-released and independent label artists, as well as former major label acts named today by Music Resource Group (MRG) as Nominees in The 12th Annual Independent Music Awards (The IMAs), the influential awards program for independent bands and fans.

Representing the broad spectrum of today’s global independent music scene, the Nominees in over 80 Album, Song, Music Video and Design categories were culled from thousands of submissions from North America, South America, Asia, Africa, Australia, Greenland and Europe.

The album “Forgotten Lands” is the soundtrack to the video game “Forgotten Lands VIII: The Legend of Shadow Lake” by TBC Productions. The game itself is a medieval fantasy written in the old classic 2D 8-bit style of the mid 1980s. The musical style ranges from ragtime to fiddle music to full orchestral score, plus many other varieties in between. A more recent classical album by the artist called “Symphony No. 1” is a five movement symphony based on the music from this album.

Albedo is a New Age Music Artist who also writes in the Classical, Soundtrack and Dance genres. Since being formed in January of 2002, many of his songs have been performed by several groups including the Murray Concert Band, the Davis County Symphony, plus others outside of Utah, and lots of dance clubs around the world. "The Battle of Shiloh" from the album "Digital Fingers" was performed at Carnegie Hall in April of 2011. Eight albums have been officially released including: a tribute album called "Cliff Millward" released in 2013, which is a collection of classical works composed by Clifford Nicholas Millward (1933-2013). A new age Christmas album in 2012 that contains a collection of secular and sacred Christmas songs with live and synthetic elements. Similar in style to Mannheim Steamroller, Kurt Bestor, and Jon Schmidt. "Symphony No. 1" also released in 2012. "Forgotten Lands" in 2011. A collection of classical orchestral works by Utah composers called "Digital Fingers" in 2010. Also a dance album called "7th Heaven" in 2008, which was described by a fan as: "Mannheim Steamroller goes to the club!".

Winners of the Independent Music Awards will be determined by a panel of influential artist and industry judges including Tom Waits and Kathleen Brennan, Ziggy Marley, Suzanne Vega, Meshell Ndegeocello, Del McCoury, Pete Wentz, Shelby Lynne, G. Love, Jim Lauderdale, McCoy Tyner, Brandi Carlile, John Medeski & Chris Wood (Medeski, Martin & Wood), Judy Collins, Raul Midon, Andrea Marcovicci, “Weird Al” Yankovic, Bernie Worrell, Jeremy Taggart, Toots Hibbert, Dennis Diken, Joel Madden, Arturo Sandoval, Jonatha Brooke, Alan Light (Live From The Artists Den), Terry McBride (Nettwerk Music Group), Kevin Lyman (Vans Warped Tour), Jason Olaine (Jazz at Lincoln Center), Anthony DeCurtis (Rolling Stone), Dan Storper (Putumayo World Music, Bob Ludwig (Gateway Mastering), Bruce Iglauer (Alligator Records) and others. The results will be announced in May, 2013.

The album is a collection of secular and sacred Christmas songs using live and synthetic elements. Ranging from solo piano, to chamber orchestra, to full symphonic score with choir. The music is similar in style to Mannheim Steamroller, Kurt Bestor, and Jon Schmidt. I sing all the vocal parts myself, including the solos and the choir parts. I also play a lot of different woodwind instruments including Clarinet, Oboe, and Recorders, all of which are used on the album. Everything else is achieved digitally through the use of synthetics and virtual orchestra samples.

Also, this doesn't have anything to do with the Christmas album, but last Sunday the Silverwood Clarinet Choir performed an arrangement of the song “Creaturehouse” from our Digital Fingers album. The album is a five movement symphony based on the music from “Forgotten Lands”. If you're not familiar with “Forgotten Lands” it was an album released last year, and is the soundtrack to a video game by TBC Productions. For this album I took the music I wrote for the video game and made it bigger. I re-did the orchestrations and completely re-did the recordings. I put similar songs together and ended up with 5 different movements, while expanding some songs and putting in some brand new sections.

Also, this might be a little early to talk about the holidays, but we do have a Christmas album coming out next month. I'll definitely be sending out more e-mails when the time get's closer, but it will not be released until after Halloween!

The physical CD is still being worked on, and will be available by Thanksgiving 2011. You can pre-order a CD right now at the link above and only pay $5. The price will increase by at least 50% once the CD has been released. Sheet music is also being worked on, and will be available by Christmas 2011.
This album has almost been a year in the making! It was released back on October 7, 2011 and is called “Forgotten Lands”. It is the soundtrack to a video game called "Forgotten Lands VIII: The Legend of Shadow Lake" by TBC Productions. You can currently download the video game for Windows PCs at the link below. There has been talk about releasing a version for Mac, but I'm not sure when that'll be happening.
This has been an exciting project! I've always wanted to write the music for a video game and I final got the chance. The maker of the game wanted a full orchestral score, which made it even better. The game itself is what I like to call a new classic video game. It's a 2-D role playing game similar to the 8-bit era of video games released in the mid 1980's. Like the original Zelda or the first Final Fantasy games. It was recently released, and is for Windows PC computers.
