New York's Rachael Sage to Appear on the New "Fame" Film Soundtrack!

New York, NY – MPress Records is pleased to announce that Rachael Sage’s song “Too Many Women” will be featured in the new “Fame” film hitting theatres on September 25, 2009. The soundtrack album will be available for digital and physical purchase nationally on August 25, 2009. “Too Many Women”, which also appears on Sage’s critically acclaimed album “Public Record”, was hand-picked by director Kevin Tancharoen, and remixed by Damon Elliot specifically for the movie.

Rachael Sage’s song appears on the “Fame” soundtrack alongside such notable artists as Santigold, Naturi Naughton, Meghan Mullally and Sam Sparro. For a full track-listing, visit: http://www.lakeshore-records.com/fame.

Being involved in this project carries special meaning for Sage, who reveals: “When I saw ‘Fame’ as a kid, the characters resonated with me so much...By the time the TV series came out I’d already decided I wanted to grow up to be a combination of Leroy, Coco and Bruno – who definitely inspired me to get my first synthesizer!”

As a teenager, Sage’s passion for dance ultimately carried her to the renowned School of American Ballet (located directly across the street from the performing arts high school upon which “Fame” was based). “A lot of dancers at S.A.B also attended the High School For Performing Arts, so there’s definitely a big nostalgia-factor for me.” Sage eventually performed with the New York City Ballet, and also studied at the legendary Actors Studio, before turning her focus entirely toward being a musician.

About the Film:

A reinvention of the original Oscar®-winning hit film, Fame follows a talented group of dancers, singers, actors, and artists over four years at the New York City High School for Performing Arts. In an incredibly competitive atmosphere, plagued by self-doubt, each student’s passion will be put to the test. With the love and support of their friend and fellow artists, they’ll find out who amongst them will achieve Fame.

The cast includes a host of newcomers in the student roles, but fans of the original film will be pleased to find Debbie Allen recast as Principal Angela Simms; the faculty casting also features such luminary talent as Kelsey Grammer, Megan Mullally and Bebe Neuwirth. For further information on the film, visit: www.generationfame.com.

About Rachael Sage:

Self-taught musician, poet and producer Rachael Sage radiates what MOJO Magazine calls “warm, intelligent…NY indie charm”. An innovative, improvisational keyboardist, she performs over 150 dates a year with her band The Sequins throughout North America, Europe and Asia. Sage, who has shared stages with Ani DiFranco, Colin Hay, The Animals and Judy Collins, was recently named one of the Top 100 Independent Artists Of The Past 15 Years by Performing Songwriter magazine. A two-time Independent Music Award Winner, Sage has earned a loyal following for her infectious melodies, poetic lyrics and often-outrageous, colorful stage banter.

Her latest self-produced album, CHANDELIER, was mixed by Kevin Killen (U2, Elvis Costello), and contains 13 tracks of what Performing Songwriter magazine calls “engaging pop arrangements and gripping melodies”.

Fresh from her successful run in Scotland at Edinburgh’s Fringe Festival, Rachael Sage brings her new show “Sequins & Shpiel” to the West Coast. Be sure to check out her live rendition of the song “Fame” that The Herald (Edinburgh) calls the “hit of Fringe 2009.”

September 8th The Hotel Utah Saloon San Francisco, CA 8:00pm

September 9th The Pour House Paso Robles, CA 8:00pm

September 10th Saint Rocke Hermosa Beach, CA 8:00pm

September 11th Lestat’s San Diego, CA 8:30pm

September 12th Hotel Café Los Angeles, CA 7:00pm

For VIP/media requests, contact Melanie Rodriguez at: 212.481.7243 or press@mpressrecords.com

For Licensing inquiries, contact: licensing@mpressrecords.com.
