Matt's Testimony

“I grew up in a Christian household with two very awesome, Godly parents. I was taught at a young age the values that a Christian is supposed live out and raised with faith instilled in me. But growing up, I didn’t want to follow the “rules” and rebelled constantly; rejecting God because I didn’t care about Him and didn’t feel that it was fair to surrender my will to His. I knew the facts and believed whole-heartedly that there is a God and He does exist, but I lived for me and what I wanted. So I lived most of my life in unrepentant sin, and lived for myself above anything else. Experimenting with a lot of things for cheap thrills and momentary satisfaction… but learned that momentary “satisfaction” is actually very unsatisfying. Spending most of middle and high school boxing with God and wrestling with my spirit, I was into the party scene and had many friends who were actively involved in gangs. God broke me down eventually and showed me that there is true joy in Him. On my knees, broken, wounded and unsatisfied with my life… I knew I needed a change. My second semester of my senior year is when I officially dedicated my life to my Lord and began to put His will above my own. Old habits don’t die right away and I still had a LOT to learn (and still do) about living my life according to His word, but it was the beginning of a repentant heart. And for the first time, I felt something I never felt before… true satisfaction. Not in myself, but in something bigger than me. And ever since, I have been doing my best to live my life in accordance with/to Him.”

-Matt Gaskins
CraCajaC
