RECENT INTERVIEW WITH VOCALIST JK (Edited to space version)

How did thE.thinkinG.principlE come about?
We formed thE.thinkinG.principlE with the intention of playing for ourselves- and not to release any material, to get back to what we loved, music without commercial pressure to sell multi millions.
All the members were in other bands at the time and it was just planned as an outlet to frustrations or restrictions encountered in the other bands.
It is obvious from the start that we are no ‘trend’ band- that being said – we would still like (as would any band) to be ‘successful’. It’s just natural as a musician to want the creation to be unleashed, right? And be heard by as many people as possible
How did it progress from ‘project’ to band?
After music from rehearsals was played to fans/friends of previous bands, feedback was very positive it was decided to move from ‘Project’ to band. We enjoyed the vibe at rehearsals so much- the creative atmosphere seemed less restricted / pressured, so it seemed natural to do this full time.
The outlook is still the same- music for ourselves (as it should be- but we all know that isn’t always the case). if other people enjoy the sounds then cool- but if not!! So what!! It’s a each to their own situation, right!.
Welcome to the minority, the underdogs scene, ha ha! We are all born unique, so why die a clone?
Previous bands/experience?
Kev (Bass) & myself (JK- voices) had been playing in bands together for years to varying degrees of success- To name the highlights-(SO FAR) (performing with Exodus (Thrash legends) & - as guests of Steve with Iron Maiden (Bigger Legends!) & performed at Download ’04 which was a dream come true.(Well to headline there is a dream- but that came a close second. ha ha!)- we have always enjoyed technical rock / metal as it pushed us mentally both as listeners & musicians- (not that you have to be a guitar genius to create / listen great music- let me get that out of the way- as the stigma attached to the genre gives that false impression to some people.) -We had a couple of albums released independently.
Dan (Guitars) has played in many metal bands –had a few albums released- also was singer / guitarist in UK/Norway band Twisted Autumn Darkness & a U.K Goth Metal band.
Matt (Drums) has been mainly in rock/prog bands but was also a member of Siege Society – technical Thrash band. Which is where we hooked up.
Describe your sound?
Foremost- Metal, mix of thrash, technical metal, mellow melodic- even groove!! Chaotic & Controlled – melodic vocals and aggressive vocals- (these will become more prevalent on the next recording.
We have a variety of influences- reviews and feedback have heard parts of Watchtower, Atheist, Spiral Architect, Queensryche, Nevermore, Meshuggah & also Judas priest, Psychotic Waltz- which are all bands that we admire greatly and are genre giants- so to even be mentioned in the same sentence is a compliment – not all influences are conscious, but inevitable, so we don’t worry too much.tech or straight- with no real plans for world dominance (it gives us more freedom to be creative- something most musicians would envy. And people seem to hear that in our sound and respect it- love or hate- it’s up to them. It’s early days yet, the sound is forming and each song is slightly different style wise. Something you can’t hear from the ‘Dangerous Thoughts’ two track demo-
Future plans?
recorded 3 songs which became our forthcoming “Slowly forming sanity” CD- which you can hear on our site- (Feedback welcomed)
gigs are planned- possible gigs abroad would be cool.I’m just seeing how things work out.
Why should people check out thE.thinkinG.principlE?
Hey, why not? Can’t hurt- I think that people from different styles of music will find something they appreciate-

THINK WITH ATHEIST & LATITUDE THANKS

LATITUDE FEST
Thanks to all the people who came to support thE.thinkinG.principlE recently at the LATITUDE FESTIVAL. We were clearly the heaviest band at the festival- and turned a few heads with our music- but hope to have converted some people to tech in the process.
We had fun- hope you did too. Great fest and bloody HOT!!!! All burnt to crispy critters at the end of it! Ha ha!
Look forward to gigging again soon.

THINKING WITH ATHEIST
thE.thinkinG.principlE recently met up with Tech metal legends Atheist at Bloodstock Festival. We have all been ‘fans’ of their music for many years- and after travelling to Birmingham (13 years ago) to see them play, (only to find Kelly couldn’t get into the country with Visa problems) it was v-cool to finally see/hear them perform.
13 years ago we were lucky enough to ‘hang out’ with the rest of the band and chat-
So it was great to catch up and talk again at the fest. (Check out the fun Atheist -thE.thinkinG.principlE- endorsement pics. (Below)More pics etc at myspace site-
(or go to our myspace site in links section)
Big hello to the Gnostic guys (guitars) – who stood in and made our dream of seeing Atheist perform a reality. (Check out their page on myspace)- also featuring Steve Flynn on drums.
