So there are so many historic dates to remember....9/11, 7/04, 6/20, 2/10 (my birthday :)..... but on this day there is yet another date to etch into our memories. Never has there been an occasion that can rival the importance of this day...okay maybe i exaggerate......but, not really.

At this point I am sure that everyone has commented , yelled , responded , blogged , emailed all the things that could possibly be said around this momentous occasion. I just hope that in all of the glee and rejoicing ..we take time to stop and really breathe in what this not only means to our children going forward but what this means to an institutionalized mindset that is slowly becoming unraveled..This event does not for a moment mean that racism has been crushed but at least it got a good left hook , or a bona-fide platform wearing, matching fur coat and hat, pimp black slap, I mean back slap :) At least there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Now when little Raheim says " I want to be the president of the United States", the quintessential yes baby and umm that good sweetheart can be replaced with the factual knowledge and appreciation that YES you can be whatever you want ...even President of these here United States
