"Hey there Route 64 crew! I just wanna say a massive thanks for Ur Fanship & support on my Reverb profile, also sooo sorry for xtreme delayed reply but I've had a mega busy yr so far performing a summer season in Cyprus! I'm also LOVIN Ur music; absolutely stunning, summery, smokey southern Country/Blues Rock anthems! Ur frontwoman Kristen has a really distinctive powerhouse of a voice, capable of hushed, restrained emotion & efortless power, also backed up by faultless instrumentals by rest of the band! U also jump from rollicking Up tempo Rock to intimate ballads with ease! I espesh enjoyed "Strawberry Wine;" musically, vocally & lyrically; absolute perfection, stunning song! I've now Fanned U back on Reverb & Liked/shared Ur pages on Reverb, FB & Twitter; I'd be really grateful if U cud do same & also give my stuff another listen & comment back on my page when U get a chance! Love, Peace & best wishes Jamie. C :)"
"While it is common for a father and daughter to have a close relationship, it is not as common for them to play together in a band. But that's the case for Powhatan resident Blanton Gordon and his daughter, Kristen Gordon Johnson the band's lead singer and her father Blanton is the bass player, back up singer and manger. "We've had a great chemistry from the beginning and there is rarely any drama which is hard to find in bands nowadays." Johnson said. "We all have different tastes in music, which helps our overall sound come across more dynamic and versatile." One way for Route 64 to keep its good vibe going, Johnson said, is by continuing to blend clasic songs along with covering new releases. She said, the band is in the process of putting together some original songs. "Bands are hard to keep going after a certain period of time, since there are usually clashing egos." she said, "That hasn't been the issue thus far and we hoping to keep it that way.
"The Tobacco Company Restaurant has stood the test of time as Richmond’s landmark entertainment and dining venue by always selection the right chef, the right cut of beef and the right band. Route 64 fits the bill. Their great selection of music ranging from country to pop and most of all their know how to entertain a crowd. I found this band on line and took a chance sight unseen and I am glad I did". David Campbell The Tobacco Company Restaurant
"Congratulations for a great show at Colonial Downs last month during the Virginia Stampede Pro Rodeo. We wanted to create a country/rock vibe for rodeo fans that came out and your band really delivered. Live music at our venue has often been a challenge to pull off in a successful manner but the Route 64 Band did great. I look forward to working with you in the future. Thanks Darrell Wood Director of Marketing
“Woodlake performance was awesome as usual! We were concerned becuase it was so hot but the pool was the place to be and Route 64 provided an incredible show! Even with temperatures of 100 grandparents, parents and kids were dancing in the afternoon and loving it! You guys get better and better each time you come! Know your schedule is filling up these days but you can always count on us to ask you back! You can heat up a stage-literally!”
“Great performance Memorial Day Friday night Cheers! We had 900 family members in attendance and have heard nothing but rave reviews and when are they coming back! Love having a band that can have members of all ages totally enjoying themselves. Your lead singer is fantastic and the variety of music you play is awesome. It was a great night on Friday and glad you were the band that kicked off our Memorial Day Weekend! See you on July 4th!”
“ROUTE 64 This reviewer is seriously adverse to covering bands that do only covers – in this case 88 to be precise with the notable omission, of course, of “Feelings.” But I must make an exception. Why? The answer is in six words - Kristen Johnson, Kristen Johnson, Kristen Johnson. Think back to Lorrie Morgan in the 80s, Blakey St. John in the 90s, Jennifer Nettles and Adele today and you will see what I mean. A voice sometimes biting like bourbon and at times soft as silk, Kristen has a dynamic range that’s going to be heard well past Route 64’s Virginia stomping grounds. If you don’t believe how talented this woman is, compare her versions of “Rolling in the Deep” and “Down in Mississippi” to Adele and Sugarland respectively. Route 64 is an Indie band with big, big potential. Once it starts to accumulate original songs and lock into a focused genre - I'm betting on Modern Country - no state border is going to contain Kristen and her crew!”
“Virginia Association of Competitive Swimming loved the performance and talking about bringing the band back next year! A great time was had by all!”
“Big Dogs management said that the crowd was asking how fast can you get back-our crowd loved you-so we are booked again for April 20th! Big Dogs is high energy in a little college town in Farmville Virginia!”
“Daddios management said that Route 64 was great, very refreshing and enjoyable and look forward to your return the first of March”
