Bio

Roholio is a singer, songwriter and classical guitarist influenced by such artists as Johnny Cash and Tori Amos.

About

In 2006 Roholio released her first album, 'Coco's Jar' under the name 'Roholio's Project' as it was a collaboration with her musician friend, 'Mothy.' In the same year she also assisted James Tucker, then under the name 'Lesser Panacea'  and the album 'Lost in Translation' was subsequently released. Many technical difficulties surrounded the two albums, particularly as they were both being produced soley on North Devon College soil and so for her next album Roholio wanted to go in a different direction.

"I began working in the College studio and managed to get at least one track done that I was happy with but the environment was just not right somehow. I ended up recording where Tucker was, at The Ariel Rehearsal Facility in Ilfracombe with Leigh Crossman. He's been great, it's just a completely different atmosphere up there and my friends were just rehearsing down the corridoor in the rehearsal rooms so I could quickly run and ask if I could borrow them. The Tom's were great for that, I'm so pleased I have additional musicians on this project. Brendon (Taylor) was great and so was Chris (Patterson). I hope I get to work with them again."

Roholio also features on James Tucker's new album, 'Confused Reality'

"Yeah I'm quite pleased with that. I didn't do much really but its enough for me and Tuck to listen back one day and say 'man we had some fun at the Ariel didn't we?'"

Mothy, James Tucker and Roholio are now separate solo acts, gigging extensively throughout the south west - although Roholio occasionally sings on James Tucker's set.

"Me and James are quite close and every now and then he asks me to come and sing on some of his tracks which I fully enjoy doing. That's the trouble with singing live, you can't do your own harmony, but I like to put some on his songs. He's offered to play piano for me, I should really take him up on that for the next project, maybe do another version of 'Seafaring Stranger.'

Roholio has been working hard on the new album, 'Spilling the beans'  and plans to launch on May 30th in Bratton Flemming.

"Tuck was doing his album and he suggested we launch together, seemed like a great idea to me so we went about organising it in Bratton Flemming - where Tuck lives. I'll probably do a little launch closer to home, I live just outside of Bude, I guess I play more in Barnstaple anyway though 'cause I'm still a college student there."

Roholio is currently finishing her second year of a degree in Music Performance at North Devon College. She hopes to study next year at Plymouth University - topping it up to a full degree.

"I just want to keep playing and writing my songs, I can't imagine life without my guitar."
