read myself a story from a book I used to know
but the pictures had all been torn away, no faces anymore
tried to sit and stare out her window, but the shades had all been drawn
no sunlight finds me, no songbirds fill the air, now that she is gone

took a walk to clear my cloudy head, but the thoughts won’t go away
couldn’t get a wink of sleep last night,
tryin to hear those voices, wonder what they would have said
all the streets look different, houses all look gray
wish I could just rain down on this place
and wash the time away
