About

Rob Lester was born under the concrete grey skies in Coventry 1980 during an economic downturn and social misery  -  some say that this early upbringing  influences his melancholic lyrics and angst ridden - brittle songwriting style. After moving around the country his parents rooted in reading the mid/late 80's.

After Rob's father taught him some basic chords on the guitar (being a guitarist in the popular 60's/70's band "The Street") Rob taught himself thereafter, particularly when stumbling upon an old beatles song book in the attic. After re-arranging the chords to "Can't buy me love" Rob penned his first song en-titled "the red fish" which still exists somewhere in a dark corner. The dark cloud drifted over his music during the mid nineties as rob lost his belief in the creative process and overall connection with music & writing and he dropped off the radar for a few years....

After an unsuccesfull audition for the Bolshoi ballet rob's return to the UK and to music heralded a creative process of another Genre - Art School -  His creative juices really started to flow in the latter years of Art school in the late nineties with songs like "How i fall" and "Submission." and the ball rolled once again! After many years of just writing Rob began to meet like minded people (thanks to his now wife) and began to make steps to record and perform his burgeoning songs.

Recording began in early 2008 with the *Sunblest* sessions and a  few of those original recordings are on this site. Unfortunatly - bar the material that appears here - most of the material was lost (due to technical faults) in what Rob likes to call *KorgGate* but after a year of re-writing and life - moving - on  new recordings are imminent and with gigs and solo acoustic performances to come in 2009, it looks like it's going to be a very busy year for Rob Lester.............

Thanks.
