More About The Artist
Robert Deeble's music has been described as "Wistful folk-pop, sparsely arranged, gracefully performed, and achingly beautiful to behold." His art is one that conjures such influences as Leonard Cohen and Nick Drake or likened to such contemporaries as James William Hindle or Josh Rouse.
Robert's last record "This Bar Has No One Left" (Fractured Discs) was an emotionally resonant work in the realm of stripped down rock. Produced by Adam Selzer (M. Ward), Robert was joined on this recording by a community of Northwest colleagues including Rachel Blumberg (Decemberists), Amanda Lawrence (Norfolk & Western) and Todd Corbett (Tracker). Robert’s previous full length “Thirteen Stories” had earned him the title of “smart rock” with its quirky instrumentation and lyrical banter over literary luminaries like Emily Dickenson and Dostoevsky.
Notable to early recordings were Robert’s orchestrated arrangements and the presence of drummer Stephen Hodges (Tom Waits) who played and produced his first two records. Memorable as well was a duet with folk heroine Victoria Williams (Rockabye) that appeared on his debut release.
Robert Deeble has toured extensively in the US and New Zealand and has the honor to perform alongside Low, Ida, Songs:Ohia, Pedro The Lion, Sam Phillips, Over The Rhine, The Kingsbury Manx, Shannon Wright, Michelle Shocked, and Victoria Williams.
