RIDER are a five piece unsigned rock band from the Midlands, UK.
The band was formed late in 2006 by brothers Aaron, Jay and Rich Lang and fellow friends/musicians Simon Lee and Steve Taylor.
The bands sound reflects the varied and individual influences of the 5 members whilst retaining an originality that excites audiences and has seen them gain critical acclaim on the local scene. The Foo Fighters, Porcupine Tree, Biffy Clyro, Muse and Maximo Park among others, have all had an influence on the music that Rider are making.
In April 2007 Rider recorded their first self titled 4 track EP and worked hard playing gigs across the UK. They immediately received positive feedback on the live shows, particularly praising them for polished performances, a big live sound and a high standard of musicianship.
Encouraged by the response to the first EP and with an ever growing fan-base, Rider returned to the studio to record new material. In November 2007 they released their second EP ‘Afterthought’, a powerful and emotive collection of tracks which really encapsulated the bands’ sound and direction.
In December 2007 over a series of 5 shows Rider became winners of the ‘Touch FM across the Midlands’ Battle of the Bands, scoring maximum points from the judges and public radio vote in all heats, quarters and semi finals.
May 2008 saw the band support Palladium (Virgin Records) on their UK tour, followed by the release of Riders' third EP 'Your Motion' which the band strongly believe includes some of their strongest material to date.
