"Ricks Rebels are a 4 piece band from the West Country, who have
been playing extensively around Devon and Cornwall for the past 3
years and are well known to most of Cornwall's stable of new
talent emerging as a major force on the indie scene. Having won a
series of battle of the bands type events over the last couple of
years they have moved on to playing regularly at all the key
venues and festivals in the area, as well as being in demand on
the North London Indie circuit. Fronted by lead singer and
performer extraordinaire, Jordski the band has a solid and
enviable rhythm section in Bassist Elle and drummer (Animal) Joe
Black. The young multi talented guitarist, Martin Skews, makes
the band sound more like a 5 piece on occasions and with Elle,
brings haunting and evocative backing vocals to play on much of
the newer material.
Since releasing their first "one take wonder" demo EP " Take One"
back in 2005 they have been developing a very individual and
original style borne out of the many varied influences that they
have brought together as individuals. Between them they call on a
gallery of influences from Beefheart to Metallika taking in the
Doors and the White Stripes on the way.  It's little wonder that
this new spiky guitar pop crosses over from the cult to the
mainstream and from the obscure to the easily accessible. New
tracks like Disco Bandit and Razzle Dazzle show a distinct lack
of respect for formal pop songs but remain the kind of 3 minute
manic dance tracks that the likes of Kirsty MaColl would have
referred to as a crisp three-minute shimmer of melodious sound,
all that's  needed for a quick fix of sonic bliss. Pop at its
most creative.

Its little wonder that the press bangs on about how great a live
band this is and has started to point to them as the next
emerging talent from the region. Their new material is currently
being produced in the Studio for an album release shortly after
Christmas. Don't get confused by the name this is no Rock a Billy
cover outfit, Ricks Rebels are going to be a force to be reckoned
with in the very near future. Catch them while you can still
