Bio
Got my first guitar in 1967, I was 13 years old and it wasn't too long after that I could play all the chords to House Of The Risin' Sun and Louie Louie. My first payin' gig was in 1970, the 5 piece band made $50. Played in various rock bands with some gigs here and there, nothing real steady. In the mid 80's got with some real good musicians and formed Vital Signs, my first band with steady payin' gigs. Have been in some good bands since always rockin' the Tri State area. Currently playing for the Kickin' Country Band. I played with KCB in the late 90's for a few years. Have recently hooked up with Dave again, and KCB is still rockin' regional and local venues, with it's unique blend of classic rock and country.

October 2009....Dave (Kickin' Country) called and wanted to know if I wanted to play. Seems Dave (drummer) happened to be at a bar last night and the band got fired. He told them about us Kickin Country, and here we go again. The band just won't die. Either that or we are all zombies. See ya at the VFW 7th ave. Huntington WV.
July 2009....While looking for and auditioning bass players Dave gets called back to work full time plus over time = no time to practice or play. It looks like KCB could be down for a while or permanently. These circumstances could change at any time. Last time I played with another band, a few years till Dave got layed off. Could happen again, who knows. Right now I am looking for a band while working on and recording some new songs.
April 2009... Tillman (bass) has left the band. We wish Tillman the best. KCB will be auditioning Bass players the rest of spring. Hope to be back out in the Tri-State by early-mid summer. If you play Bass and would like an audition with the Kickin' Country Band email me (address above).
February 2009... KCB is back to work in late February. Picked up a couple of dates from our old friends at the Ironton, Ohio V.F.W. We recorded some live cover tunes while we were there and I have added a few of them to my songs. The songs were recorded bootleg style on my Zoom MRS-8 digital recorder. It was recorded to just one track using only the mic that is on the unit.
November 2008...Kickin' Country is taking this winter off. Play dates for 2009 will start to be posted in late January.
8-2-08...I am back playing guitar for the Kickin' Country Band. Kickin' Country plays classic rock and country. I have been in other bands with Dave Barker(vocals) and Dave Nibert(drums).

3-23-08...Just gettin' started here at the Nation. A few songs for now with more to come soon. | I Can't Wait I Can't Wait was written while I was with the band Vital Signs. It was recorded some years ago in Ashland, Kentucky at Chandler Studios. Denny Chandler was at the controls for recording the tracks. I did the final mix. Playing on the recording with me is Steve Lister on Bass, Adam Gregory on the drums and Ed Lambert on keyboard and backing vocals. We had been playing the song live for about six months, and it had become part of our regular set list. We had the song pretty tight so it was no surprise it only took about two hours to record and mix down. The drums, bass and rhythm guitar was recorded live together. The lead guitar track was done with a Rockman. It was plugged straight in to the mixing console in the control room. Also recorded in the control room was the keyboard ( an old arp synth ) and backing vocals. The lead vocal was recorded twice and each one has it's own track on the final mix.
Slide It In Slide It In was written by me and produced on my home 8-track recorder. All Instruments are played by me. For drums I used a RX-17 Yamaha rhythm machine. The slide part is played on my 69 Gibson SG. The other guitar parts are done with an 85 Les Paul custom. Amps are a Peavey Roadmaster full stack and a Randell 50 watt combo. Bass went straight to the board. |
