Q: I notice you mentioned Martyn Joseph as an influence. I supported him at Cheltenham town hall once and he was absolutley great - soundcheck jamming + name checked me in Dolphins. - You seen him much?
A: Not for a very long time: I think I last saw him at Greenbelt '97! He was a very big influence early on, and I always thought he had an excellent live presence as well as being a songwriter who can explore depth of feeling without needing to get cryptic or abstracted. Rather he's very honest and humanistic, and I hope that's something I have adopted. I must admit, his more recent work hasn't really been so much to my taste, but I still admire him a great deal. Funny... I'd forgotten but I used to cover Dolphins Make me Cry quite regularly. You're lucky to have supported him. I would still consider that a great honour and a big opportunity. Glad to hear you've been enjoying my CD's. Not too long now before I finish producing my new album hopefully.
