Repression began when Germaine Vanks and David G. long time school friends got together one afternoon on May 4th, 1996.  Their cover rehearsal was just the beginning of a journey that hasn't stopped since that day.  Germaine and David, 14 and 13 years old at the time, stayed on the creative front line while the postings on bass and lead guitars were filled always only on a temporary basis with players who kept coming and going.  Throughout their time together, they have played in various venues throughout New York including even South America.

Germaine used his guitar as an outlet to create amazing rhythms to accompany his lyrics.  At the same time, David brought a solid drum line to the music.  Their style became the band known as Repression. 
A few years later, circumstances out of his own control kept David from continuing with the band, and therefore Germaine was left to carry on with new band members.  Out of the auditions ultimately came Steve, Alex, and Matt.  The new band members caught on quickly and they took the original scores and created a sound they can call their own. The band finally found its permanent and better fit, making this the official line-up!

The band has recently worked their butts off on intensive rehearsal sessions matching up the tracks from their first album titled United, continued their roster of gigs throughout New York, and worked on 11 promo tracks in studio from their debut album, 4 of which have been inserted on this website.

Repression was recently signed under NEW WORLD MANAGEMENT out of Nashville,TN. The band looks forward to their growing success, making more music, and, of course, becoming a legend.
