““Wow, this band is good,” shaking my head after I had the opportunity to see Red Tide Rising perform at CMB’s Friday Afternoon Club. What grabs your attention is their youth; when you hear them you think they’ve got to be much older. Ranging in age from 13 to 19, this crew has a demeanor beyond their years, much like Boulder’s State Wide Emergency. The outfit plays good old straight-ahead Hard Rock, a la AC/DC, and they’ve nailed it. The live sets include original material with covers of their favorite stuff thrown in the mix, and when they start jamming they churn out some quality sounds. They’ve defined their sound and now they’re working on their stage presence, “We’ve videoed ourselves and have a perspective of what the audience is seeing; it was hard to watch at first but it is helping us,” states Andrew. Q: How did the band get started?:)

A: Red Tide Rising was started over 4 years ago by Andrew and Matthew Whiteman (yes they are brothers). Along they way the line up changed a few times, 3 years ago Laura Myers joined the band on bass, then shortly after Matt Guerin joined on drums, and a little over a year ago Sean Verity joined on guitar.
