Balenciaga Banks / Press

“We are glad to have Balenciaga Banks reached out to us again for another mixtape review. His last project Champagne Wishes And Caviar Dreams was a solid project to us and is still in our Itunes today. Following that project, we have his new one “Made And Crafted”. This project is a little different from his last endeavour and has more of a pop/emo feel to it. Still with great rhymes and production this mixtape stands to test his last. The start of the mixtape Balenciaga gives us what “we ask for” on the title track “Made And Crafted”. Success seems like his theme on this project and this song is a perfect example.”Drink And Clap” samples the infamous song “Mambo Italiano” by Bob Merrill. Balenciaga took to the mic along side Breezy Bernanke to bring a song mixed with hard drums and baselines. The sample alone should tell you its time to party. “Cant Help Myself” stayed with us till the end of the mixtape. Banks, on the first and second verse kills it using the ”

“is back! Ok he never really left, but he has brought some new music to us with the new project, “Made and Crafted”. Banks has stayed true to his image in his follow up to his last project, “Champagne Wishes and Caviar Dreams”. The mixtape touches on Banks’ youth, growing up poor, rising above his circumstances, haters, women and more. Balenciaga is your rapper’s rapper. The title track “Made and Crafted” is the gasoline here. “Made and Crafted” is a sincere, heavy string and sample driven introduction that sets the tone. The following bars will paint the picture for you, “How you feel about them people that came fresh up out them slums but be braggin when they make it, now what you think about the people who has been privileged since their youth they can’t function once they lose it.” “Drink and Clap” featuring Breezy Bernanke is sampled from the popular 50′s song, “Mambo Italiano”. I love the vibe on this track, there is a heavy club feel to the”

“Hailing from Cincinnati, Ohio but now resides in Miami, Fl, comes a Mc that has developed a solid reputation from multiple past mix tapes such as Caviar and Cigarettes, Blue Blood Chic and The King of Club. Now Balenciaga Banks, brings his new project to the front for us to enjoy, Champagne Wishes and Caviar Dreams. After downloading and pressing play we were immediately welcomed by a Barry Manilow sample that made it clear that Balenciaga wrote and is a producer of his own songs. The first song sets the tone for the mix tape with a smooth, melodic vibe and delivery that stays with him through out the whole project. Track 2, “We Know”, continues to keep this vibe alive. With a “poetic rhythm” plus a heavy, hard driven bass sound and sample that can easily grab the attention of any club DJ or party goer. ”Why You Mad Bro”, fits the third slot of this mix tape perfectly. Anyone that’s a hater or just a disgruntled person in general, needs to skip this song. Otherwise, thi”

“Overall, the mixtape definitely got an A from me. Overall it definitely had some jewels that will be in my playlist starting with “You Mad Bro”, “White Lies”,”Programmer”, and “Morals”. Now I feel like I need to take a listen to the earlier projects because the flow is polished, with strong delivery, and unique song topics. ”

“THE 8TH WONDER OF THE BALENCIAGA BANKS CATALOG IS TITLED “CHAMPAGNE WISHES AND CAVIAR DREAMS”. A COINED PHRASE BY. ROBIN LEACH. BALENCIAGA HAS DONE HIS VERSION OF THE ASPIRATIONAL SHOW FROM 1980′S. TAKING FROM THAT THEME BALENCIAGA FELT A BIT OF NOSTALGIA IN THE CREATIVE PROCESS AS EVIDENT IN THE ALBUMS’ COVER. THE COVER FEATURES AN INSPIRATIONAL PICTURE FROM EACH OF BALENCIAGA BANKS MIXTAPE COVERS. HOWEVER THE MUSIC IS BETTER THEN EVER! THIS LATEST PROJECT HAS A GRITTY RAP/ PUNK ROCK FEEL TO IT. BALENCIAGA BANKS NEW CADENCE OVER HARD HITTING BEATS PUTS THE AMAZING RARE ARTIST IN AN UNFOUND REFRESHING GENRE (OF HIS OWN). THE PRODUCTION IS VERY MELODIC, CHIC & HARD AT THE SAME TIME. THE RAPPER HAS REACHED A CERTAIN POINT IN HIS MUSIC TO WHERE THE CONFIDENCE AND BRANDING OF BALENCIAGA BANKS HAS NO WHERE ELSE TO GO BUT UP. ENJOY!”

“Balenciaga Banks is not your typical rap/hip-hop scenester. Whether he’s designing clothing in his signature street-cum-country-club style or reminding the listener of early De La Soul, The King of Club is his 7th mix tape, and it aims to fuse the gap between the underground rap scene and mainstream music. This is perhaps Mr. Banks’ greatest musical accomplishment to date. Sure, there’s the usual club fare, but there’s also a grungy underground element to this music — from the production to the lyrics — that sets The King of Club apart from its contemporary offerings. First, there’s the inherent emotion throughout the work of this Cincinnati, Ohio native’s rhymes, an emotion that draws the listener in, makes him believe every word. Second, the production is at once elegant and rough, real, truthful, helping Mr. Banks connect with the listener in new and interesting ways.”

“The most recent prized piece of musical art work, is titled “Blue Blood Chic”. Balenciaga Banks is back after a 6 month hiatus and drops an underground classic. This mixtape has big record after big record. The fashion/rapper’s new project is chalked full of excitement and his patent Emotional rap. This is hands down Balenciaga Banks best effort, aiming to please the underground and the mainstream listeners, we give five stars for the talented rare artist, hailing from Cincinnati, Ohio. You did it!!!…ENJOY!!!”
