Primarily a composer and guitarist, Diana has never settled on a primary instrument. Taking classical guitar lessons as a practical matter when she realized her technique was limiting her compositional ideas, she eventually ended up with degrees in both classical guitar and composition, and accidentally fell in love with Renaissance lute music along the way. As an accomplished lutenist, Diana has performed in the Orlando Shakespeare Festival, with the UCF and CU Early music ensembles, with the Codrescu–Nelson–Linger Trio, and is co-founder of duo, Cantelina, with soprano Kimberly Harrison. And as a lifetime fan of Dead Can Dance, she has always had an affinity for 12 string guitar as well. In addition to being a composer, singer and instrumentalist, Diana is also a talented recording engineer and sound designer for whom the composition and recording process are deeply intertwined, and whose recordings often take on a deep atmospheric complexity. In the past, she worked extensively in the Denver theatre scene as a sound designer and composer, having been awarded a SCFD grant for her composition work on Hunger Artist’s production of Tony Kirscher’s “The Illusion” and later recruited to create sound design and original music for The Lida Project’s production of Clive Barker’s “History of the Devil.” While a span of influences contribute to her sound, Diana’s style is uniquely her own and harkens to her diverse interests and dark tastes. Her guitar songs are at times folksy, at times flamenco-ish, with a dash of early music and occasional dissonance. For this showcase, Diana looks forward to performing songs both old and new which demonstrate her innate sensibilities and passion for 12 string guitar. **JIMMI NASI** (from I'm a Boy) Jimmi Nasi is the singer/songwriter and lead guitarist for the Denver power-pop trio I’m A Boy. For the last seven years they have blazed a trail over the city’s best stages with their mix of dynamic stagecraft, adventurous musical landscapes, and unique wordplay. Their debut cd Sensation was called “a classic” by Tom Murphy of Westword Magazine. Jimmi was also the bassist for legendary Mile-High alternative rock band 40th Day in the 1990’s. In between these two bands he wrote prolifically while also performing as lead guitarist for Toddy Walters and Elektra Records’ The Rhones in Los Angeles, California. He will be playing songs from all of these eras, with a focus on that rarely performed “middle period”, at the August 17th Singer-Songwriter Showcase. http://tourworthy.com/?page_id=20&syndication_id=5595 http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/imaboy **MUSICAL MONALICIOUS** Local songwriter.
