Interview with Edgar Rodriguez

Probably the most underestimated company in Elkhart, IN, RDZ Records has made an unignorable dent in the local scene. Whene we asked CEO Edgar Rodriguez about what he thinks he will accompllish he said with a smirk,

"We gonna make a lot of people hate us. There is no question that I have lit a fuse to a big explosion and thats gonna cause a bunch of people out there to look our way. As of right now not many people know us, and thats a good thing, see we can't expect evryone to know who we are as musicians if we as artist haven't found an identity."

Exactly what can we expect from this company?

"Well the main focus as of right now is HIP HOP, but that isn't set in stone. I can tell you that ecry artist i sign will have artistic freedom, you know what I mean? The big labels out there dont give much of that in these times. They often push their artist to follow steps and make 'comercial music'. So i cant really tell you what to expect beacause of that, who knows, you cant predict the words of poets or imagine the pictures of painters."

What do you think about music today?

"Well I strongly believe that music today is not as artistic as before. Thats why you turn on the radio and hear the same shit over and over. An example I can give you is the Soulja Boy. See he did something diffrent and it worked, but at the same time it made a lot of rappers out there try and capitolize on his success. You see what im sayin, its why after him almost evryone went out there tryin to make new dances n shit, or whene T-Pain began to sell big numbers evryone began using the T-Pain voice. Its like whene the fuck did biting become alright, you know?"<P>

Do you think the internet is a pro or a con?

"Overall it helps, the music side, but it definatly hurts the business side. For a young company like ourselves its a great tool, because there is no promotion bigger than the internet you know. thene you got websites like MYSPACE, and REVERBNATION that give independant artist all the tools they need. there is no question that without it we would not be were we are today."
