Damian Quiñones & Ray Gehring Live @ Dean Street! Tuesday 6/25, 8PM @ Dean Street, Prospect Heights, Brooklyn (corner of Underhill Ave.). Featuring the music of Brooklyn's own Damian Quiñones! Quiñones's sound is akin to a mix tape made from his uncles old vinyl collection! Part 60's Pop (Gainsbourg, Bacharach, Lennon/ McCartney, Davies, & Hayes/Porter) part 70's Latin funk (Willie Bobo, War, Harlem River Drive) w/ Jazz, Tropicalia, Reggae & Electronic music overtones; always weaving a joyous rhythmic tapestry throughout. NuYorican Rock in his hands is well-crafted, funky & authentic. Equally exciting to experience solo as it is blasting full-volume w/ his killin’ band. The "Commonwealth" will be accompanying Mr. Quiñones. "With this Commonwealth, one could suggest any style of music: Modern to Memphis, Miles to Mavis, Metal to Minneapolis, & refreshingly- with no sense of irony or silly kitschiness- genuine & sincere musicianship bursts through captivating not just the audience but clearly this "Commonwealth" themselves! Expect a Sonic journey traveling from NYC to Nashville, New Orleans & way beyond!" https://www.facebook.com/pages/Damian-Quinones-Y-Su-Nuevo-Conjunto/107991362589073 http://raygehring.com/

Ray Gehring & Commonwealth @ Dean Street! Got a new thing goin’! I’ll be playing this Thursday night from 8PM-11PM @ Dean Street in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn as they gear up for a thrilling Music & Entertainment Series. Bassist Michael O’Brien will be accompanying me along w/ an exciting variety of very talented singers, instrumentalists & other guest artists @ this lovely restaurant & bar located on the northwest corner of Dean & Underhill. If you should know anyone in this area who might be interested, including performers, please pass the word along! The goal is to be as inclusive as possible of the talent, either known & unknown, living in the neighborhood & we could use your help. Legendary singer/guitarist Ron Gluck will be sitting in with us! Ron has played with so many icons including Pete Seeger, Doc & Merle Watson. From 1956-’61 he was a member of the Harvesters, a celebrated acoustic quartet performing just about everywhere including Carnegie Hall w/ Pete Seeger & the “Midnight Hoots” sessions! He’s performed at the White House for President Johnson’s salute to the 89th Congress’s for passing more Civil Rights legislation than any before. An amazing talent! Chuck Zwicky, former Minnesotan will be joining us on some electronic, percussive, ambient, funky, anything accompaniment! Chuck has a long & impressive resume as an audio-engineer, producer & musician having worked w/ Prince, Andy Summers, Soul Asylum, Reggie Watts, Jeff Beck, Jef Lee Johnson, & many others. His attention to detail & pure love of music gives that perfect touch to any song style or tempo! Colin Avery Hinton will be sitting in on percussion, snare, clapping or whatever else captures his impressive imaginative rhythmic sense! At only 24, this ex-Texan has already played w/ many icons in the NYC jazz scene. Colin easily glides from one style to another providing a tight seam of swing, funk, rock, soul or just being so solid at the right moment!Look for more guests & perhaps unknown local talent from Prospect Heights who just might drop our collective jaws in amazement!$5 suggested donation. I’ll be giving out complimentary copies of our last CD (also “buys” a chance to sing w/ the band if so desired & so “talented”… so to speak -standard forms only please or bring chart-) For those who remember the New Orleans tribute nights “Shake The Devil Off!”, Multi-Award winning chef Simon Glenn from the NOLA pop-up Tchoup Shop! has introduced a number of his addictive dishes to the Dean Street menu. We find his Shrimp Po’ Boy w/ lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, & scallion mayo, the Brisket Duck Boudin Balls w/ Creole mustard & bread & butter pickles, & the Cornmeal Crusted Catfish w/ corn, tomatoes, lime, almonds, & brown butter to name but a few!
