Q: what is your favorite song you perform?
A: Hello, and thank you for the question. That is actually a tough question to answer, since our live performance is so exciting and I really like all the songs we play, so it is hard to choose just one as my favorite. Also, my favorite song tends to change over time - what could be my favorite now, may not necessarily be my favorite a month or two down the road. That said, however (and I cannot speak for the rest of the band), my current personal favorite song to perform is actually one of our newer songs. I believe we wrote it sometime late last year (2011). The song is called Shallow As A Grave, and it has a driving, punchy, almost militant-style verse groove that is very fun to play. Andrew's bass line will have you nodding your head, you won't be able to stop yourself. Then the song explodes into a powerful, catchy chorus that switches between half time and full time grooves, with a syncopated, shifting guitar rhythm holding it all together. Gage's vocals erupt in the compelling and unforgettable hook, and Kienan's harmonies really set things off. When Kienan first played his idea for Shallow As a Grave for us, we knew we had something fresh, intense, and energetic. I can't wait until we get this one recorded. I really enjoyed writing my drum parts for this song and helping to orchestrate and flesh out the arrangement. Shallow As A Grave will be included on our forthcoming full length album, which we will begin recording later this year. Right now you can only hear the song as we perform it live, but we will be putting some live video clips on our YouTube and ReverbNation channels very soon, so check back often. Hope to see you at our next show ^!^ -Andy
