From the deserts of Santa Fe Racecar is riding a heat wave of measured success from their 2004 self titled release while quietly promoting their vital 2008 follow up album "Dance Like a Ghost". "Their moniker indicates speed and dangerous recklessness. But that doesn’t translate to their songwriting; this band composes passionate alternative pop-rock tunes that are fit for mainstream radio." (Smother Magazine 2006)
Racecar's songwriter and Executive Producer David Alyassin is noted for receiving an "Excellence in Songwriting" award from VH1's Save the Music Foundation while competing with artists from the U.S.A., Australia, Denmark, Israel & Germany. He also received an "Editors Choice" award from the International Library of Poetry. Feature articles about Racecar's music have been published by Skope Magazine, Kweevac Magazine, Lyrics Inc. Magazine, Smother Magazine, In Your Eyes Zine and Melodic Magazine. Racecar has received "Gold Artist" awards from KRGW and Radio Indy while climbing the national charts with songs like 'Mystical Ages' and 'Nothin' but a Dream'. David Alyassin has been interviewed by numerous radio stations including Artist First Radio, Streetblast Radio and Radio Gets Wild.
In January of 2008 Racecar released their new album, "Dance Like a Ghost" out of Trinity Studios under the wing of Production Engineer, Composer and Grammy Nominee Jeffrey Mettling. Jeff is also a nine time award winning recording artist with over 16 nominations for "Best Musical Production" as recognized by the New Mexico Music Awards. Jeff's own band Elu has received extensive acknowledgment commercially and continues to hit the top ten in music charts around the world.
Racecar climbs into the annals of cool fame with Jeff's help as the new album, "Dance Like a Ghost" receives "Best Rock CD" in New Mexico for 2008 by the New Mexico Music Awards. Judges include Rick Derringer who played in Johnny Winter's band and of course with his brother Edgar Winter. Rick has played with the Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, John Lennon, Alice Cooper, Steely Dan, Kiss, Todd Rundgren and Stevie Ray Vaughn. His classic hit, "Rock and Roll Hootchie Koo" is a standard.
Other judges include Elvin Bishop and Randy Brecker. Randy joined Blood Sweat and Tears for their innovative debut and has seven Grammy nominations under his belt and a double Grammy win for the album "Out of the Loop". He has played with Stanley Clarke, Eric Clapton, James Taylor, Bruce Springsteen, Chaka Khan, George Benson, Parliament-Funkadelics, Frank Sinatra, Larry Coryell, David Sanborn and Frank Zappa.
Racecar is not only honored to have their album "Dance Like a Ghost" selected by such supernatural talent for 2008's "Best Rock CD" in New Mexico but also is very proud to win 2008's "Best Rock-Alternative Musical Production" for the title track to the album "Dance Like a Ghost".
Racecar sustains a vast and positive relationship with the indie community in hopes of placing a key song in film or TV and possibly securing a publishing deal. Distribution is currently handled by the band claiming over thirty digital stores while hundreds of radio stations & magazines worldwide continue to receive CDs and promo kits. The plan is to "hit that note", positively infuse and permanently alter the destiny of humanity with a little help from their friends. "Judging by the liner notes, Racecar has a strong conscience for human suffering and I'd like to see them go far in the music world." (Dagger Magazine 2006) Racecar continues to play local venues live while promoting their follow up album "Dance Like a Ghost" which was released in January 2008.
