Bio

I go by Q Rate L (Quickly Rated Last) and alot of people think that the name is negative but its what made me who I am. All through my life ive been the underrated, so many people always doubted me and laughed at me when I did just about anything because nobody ever thought I was capable of much when I was growing up. This is who I am, Im a slacker with heart. Ive watched people go from mocking me to kissing my ass over the course of 10 minutes before and after the stage and likewise Ive screwed up at shows and didnt do anywhere near as well as I could have. Still, the reality of things is that no matter how much I get trashed or how well I do itll never be enough.

About

So off the third person tip, I started when I was 13 years old in 2003 after finding a written track one of my friends at the time was working on. He told me about a hip hop forum and I started to write tracks to stave off the teenage depression from alot of events happening at the time. I had just gotten out of Surrey after having my house burned down from some things happening and had alot to think about once I was in Burnaby. So I started to write on the forum for a while which later turned into an offer for free studio time at a place called MN8 sound which was a program set up to help at risk youth take their mind off of the world and just make music. They helped me figure out my voice and my flow and once the program was shut down one of the engineers wanted to continue helping me by letting me record in his studio for a cheap rate. I did this for about a year.

During this when I was 16 I got involved with a small time label because I was eager to try and push myself into the industry and didn't know much about it. this was a dumb move, all that happened was i lost all the tracks I had worked on for the next year to that label.

Before I had entirely moved on from the label I hooked up with a Dj from New Westminster and an Emcee named David "Redz". For the next year and a half until I was 18 I recorded with Red at his home studio in Port Moody and with him a beatboxer and 2 Dj's we formed the group "Soul City Allstars".  This turned into another bad venture as it slowly drifted away from being a hip hop group and turned into a gang of ragtag thugs causing problems in the town and starting up pointless beefs. Needless to say the group fell apart fast, but not without some perks. Through Red I met Vertiflow also known as the Van City Archivist, however I didn't begin to work with him until further down the line

At 18 I threw a small show at a bar in Vancouver where I invited a rapper to perform Whom I had previously worked with briefly named Rhythm who had just moved from Guelph, Ontario with his producer Dj Goldz. When the show was over I recorded a track with Rhythm and Goldz called "Welcome To Your Nightmare". The track itself was nothing special but from there we started working with the same manager. Doing so we decided to start work on the album "The Last Pulse" in December 2007 which is currently in its final Mastering stage and set to drop March 2009.

During the time from when we started work on the album I had graduated from high school and right away started going to school for audio engineering at The Art Institute of Vancouver and was beginning to get more studio time. In the off time of the school studio we managed to get a very cheap rate at Mushroom studios in Vancouver where many great names have passed through such as The Beatles and Led Zepplin. Previously we had recorded at its sister studio Hipposonic where People such as Kelly Rowland and Swollen Members recorded much of their music.

Now in 2009 I'm 19 years old almost 20. I've come a long way since the beginning and have pushed myself into the local underground as much as I can with networking drive and passion. I love music more than anything and have dedicated my life to it. I owe a huge portion of where I am to Red, Rhythm Goldz, Vertiflow (for pressuring me to get into the local underground) and many many other people in my life (artists friends family everyone) and I'll continue to make music unil either those damned ice caps melt and we all die from some fucked up freeze or our government kills us with some screwed up bomb type shit.

Yea its long but fuck it.
