About
PoisonFlow began in 2001 when producer Gary J Robinson and songwriter Jonathan Vaughan collaborated with Drum & Bass outfit RareForm too much critical acclaim.
Gary had been successfully running his own Drum & Bass label New Vision Recordings and had worked with some of the most respected names in the scene including Goldie, Total Science and Source Direct. Jonathan had been prominent in various bands and sound systems within the Bristol scene.
To combat the formulaic nature of the Dance scene and the retrospective Indie scene, Gary and Jonathan decided to start PoisonFlow to experiment and explore all their diverse musical and cinematic influences. After remix work for Nas, SugaBabes, BadFellas and Soundisciples it was time to start work on their own album, which would encapsulate this original fusion.
Gary and Jonathan then recruited Mr Dries from Belgium on bass, Ditch from The Jimi Hendrix experience on guitar, Mc Willis, and Owen from the Stereo Mcs on drums.
PoisonFlow were quickly picked up by Kickin Music, whose diverse range of labels and artists include Kickin Records (Bushwacka! DJ Hype), House Label Slip ‘n’ Slide (De’Lacy, Deep Dish, and BT) and Drum & Bass label Hardleaders (Kosheen, Dillinja, and Lemon D).
PoisonFlow spent a year in the studio working towards a definitive and polished version of their debut LP 'Urban Sickness' and gigged heavily around London and the U.K. between studio sessions building a following and fine-tuning their live show.
2003 unexpectedly bought a parting between the band and Kickin Records who could no longer finance the production of the LP due to budget restraints. Although disappointing both sides parted company on good terms and so Gary and Jonathan wound down the live show for the time being and headed back to the studio.
Since departing from Kickin, Gary and Jonathan have been busy working on new material for future PoisonFlow projects and have also donated tunes to various television shows in Europe and the United States including Battle Star Galactica, Big Brother (Australia & Mexico), Date My Mom, Driven, East Enders, Hogan Knows Best, Making The Band 2, Miss Universe, My Super Sweet 16, The Oprah Winfrey Show, Pimp My Ride, Power Rangers, Punk’D, Room Raiders, The Shield and Skins.
As well as material for a number of television networks such as A&E, AXN, Discovery, E, Food Network, Fox, MTV, National Geographical, The History Channel, The Sci-Fi Channel, The Weather Channel and VH1.
Other notable licences include tracks for MTV’s V For Vendetta Unmasked Special and James Bond Quantum of Solace Special.
The boys continue to lay down a musical roller coaster of styles from BreakBeat to Punk, Hip-Hop and Metal.
