Pina Brothers / Press

“If you close your eyes when Wichita band, "The Pina Brothers" plays, you would think you were listening to a well-seasoned, adult, authentic roadhouse blues band.”

“Formed in Wichita, Kansas this year, the brother band is made up of vocalist and Guitar player Brandon , bassist Andre and younger brother Chris on drums. The demo Originally known as the pina demo, the band changed its name to Demo Depot, apparently because some people found the original name was bland - and the band got tired of explaining. Pina Brothers play an authentic roadhouse blues, beautifully represented by their demo album 2013. The album features four original tunes and four covers of songs by the likes of Robert Johnson, ZZ Top. The band plans to make a “ep” for the upcoming 2014.”

“ - For The Bee - ryanc@hutchnews.com Trying to gain exposure within the cutthroat world of the music "biz" is hard enough. There's the grueling schedule of performances, the savvy art of marketing and networking, not to mention the necessity of developing a look and sound unlike anything else out there. And that all comes after the years it takes to hone one's skills through constant practice. Toss in acne, homework, bedtimes and all the other pressures of growing up and one would expect the Pina Brothers to be in way over their heads. But since officially forming in February, the young siblings from Wichita feel like they're gaining momentum. Roots The brothers - Andre, 16; Brandon, 14; Chris, 11; and occasionally Jessie, 9 - were drawn to blues because of its position at the base of the musical family tree. "Blues is the root of most of the music genres of today, like rock, country, jazz, all of the newer stuff," s”

“At River Fest Four kids who regularly attend our youth jam performed during River Festival this year. The Pina Brothers (Andre, Brandon & Chris) performed at the Floating Stage and Food Court Stage also. I asked them a few questions about their experience: What was it like playing at the River Festival? Chris: Big crowd, big speakers! Brandon: I like playing in front of a audience. You work hard to make music and it is great when the crowd gets into to it! I want to play more originals but it is cool when the people know the song and sing along! Any memorial moments you'd like to share? Andre: A person dancing to your music was cool! Chris: My teacher Colby played on the main stage and he came to see me play. Brandon: Meeting and watching other musicians. We went back stage to meet Big”

“By Ginger G. Golden news@derbyinformer.com The Pina Brothers will be performing a free concert at the Derby Public Library Friday, July 19 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Brandon Pina, 13, leads the band with his brothers Andre, 15, on bass and Chris, 11, on drums. Their 9-year-old brother Jesse also joins them for some songs on harmonica. Brandon began playing guitar at the age of 10. “ Brandon was not interested in anything,” said their father Richard Pina. “We tried him out and he didn’t want to do sports, he didn’t want to do anything and then out of the blue he wanted to start playing.” They found him a teacher who got Brandon excited about playing electric guitar and introduced him to the Blues Society. Watching Brandon become a good musician inspired his brothers to get into music, Richard said. “ The other kids started playing different instruments because they didn’t want to be the same Courtesy photo From left: Chris, Andre and Brandon Pina are three brothers”
