“Coggins helps out by defining the title as “a journey of the soul to the light.” And whether possibly referring to God as Jah (from Jehova or Yahweh) almost in mantra fashion in “Jah Love,” or tossing out worrisome images from his brief stay in Los Angeles (“Weight of the Gun”), the six songs reflect a shared message in different styles. One wonders how much time separated the writing of these songs because some come from a different place in terms of complexity. “Jah Love” arrives first for a reason, an electric reminder that happiness is a result of hearts and minds being in the right place even when the world seems to be turning upside down.”
