About
Phideaux is mystery; it is hysteria and humour. It is a band centered around several childhood friendships and the music of Phideaux Xavier. They are refugees from a time when rock and roll was counter-cultural and have come together to make music for the pure art of it. Theirs is a dark wave of progressive music for the post-punk generation. The mesmerizing and eclectic sounds of Phideaux have been described as funny, serious, doomy, derivative, innovative, pretentious, goth-tinged space folk "prog" rock... I will say that we are inspired by mellotrons and flutes and keyboard heavy music. We love dual lead guitar and power chords. Syncopation and tricky time signatures are sometimes utilized and always there is melody to be hummed, riffs to invade your ears and mind. We try to tell stories with our words, and though we often might fail, if we can spark an image or metaphor we are happy.
Our output is wildly uneven, although we love all of our albums, they each represent a different side, another piece of the puzzle. Sample them wisely, although I will say they are all highly recommended for headphone listening. Beware, there's madness in those songs!.
