  the SEKS, CHICA DIABLA, HOCUS, PHASERS ON KILL & the ROMAN WATCHDOGS $5 DOORS: 9 PM / SHOW: 10 PM the SEKS: A couple of local San Diego pervs, Nox and Jawsh, got together and pulled in a couple of San Diego legends to fill in the void of music that was quite apparent. They enlisted Gaylene (Noisegod) and Chris (Dead Daze) to round out the rhythmic talent and started writing some of the filthiest, yet most elegant "alternative" music one could hope for. Gaylene has moved on to focus on her own punk project and Luis Youth has been enlisted to keep the show fresh and SeKsy. With themes ranging from storybooks to politics to attitude, the SeKs are a dynamic band that'll hold your attention until your pants fall down. CHICA DIABLA: San Diego based Chica Diabla is a "new wave punk rock-n-roll band" with members with roots from SoCal, Minnesota and Texas. The quartet rocks raw, cheeky songs about life, love, lame people and good times with hooks the crowd can easily sing along with. Think: The Runways meets Missing Persons. HOCUS is a three piece rock band from San Diego California. With influences from 80's 90's and the new millennium, Hocus ensures us that Rock and Roll is still alive. PHASERS ON KILL: In the wee hours of Two Thousand and Nine, Chris, Mikey Waco, and Ryan 'Timebomb' Smith convened for a nostalgic punk rock jam. Three guys who'd rattled stages and studios together extensively in the years prior under the moniker, West of Waco. At this moment, however, five years after West of Waco's demise, life had taken these, *ahem*, gentlemen, in various wayward paths in AND out of the music world. But from the very moment Chris broke a guitar string, Timebomb let a drumstick fly, and Waco forgot the lyrics... these three knew they were back. Phasers on Kill was born. One of the initial plans on where to steer this budding project was to become a Screeching Weasel cover band, but as jam sessions quickly dictated, original material began to ooze and take shape on its own. Peppered generously with each band member's diverse musical influences, their songs abandon bells and whistles and get to the point: Energy. Hook. Harmony. In three minutes or less in most cases. New to Phasers on Kill is Danno Rankin on bass. Danno brings a wealth of experience dropping low-end rhythm on South Sound skulls and he adds an exciting and vital dimension to the band as a whole new chapter begins... the ROMAN WATCHDOGS: Ready to once again rule the land, the second coming of the Roman Empire rides in on the backs of San Diego’s newest powerhouse, The Roman Watchdogs. Formed in the spring of 2012, The Roman Watchdogs are Derek Scott-lead vocal/guitar, Jimmy Fleck-lead guitar/vocal, Josh Vasquez-bass, and John Marquez-drums. The Watchdogs bring a style of music which has been described as “Sublime meets The Descendants” or “horror ska”. Combining sounds of rock, punk, ska and even a bit of Americana, they give your ears catchy yet sultry songs, with hooks that take you to the darker side of pop.
