About
drafted in at very short notice, played some reel purdy guitar and sang some mighty ugly words, making a trip to the dark-side a strangely inspiring experience. A monolith of a man, his towering stage presence offers a visual paradox to his peculiarly sweet sounding ballads, with their equally paradoxical lyric... as incongruous as an angel rasping out a curse, making depravity, desolation and uncurbed bitterness bizarrely endearing.

wikipedia
There are few performers like the self-effacing talent that is Pete Shepherd. “I write shite songs and fool people into thinking they are good by basically shouting at the audience. The guitar is just there so I can vent my frustration, but often comes in handy when dealing with hecklers and security men,. Some folks think acoustic music should be gentle…I think it should be brutal”…. We say: Don’t believe him, he is a liar! This man has charm, charisma and wit by the bucketful… his songs are bloody miserable, it’s true… but they possess a twisted macabre beauty that will resonate with the core of your being and make it ring true.

I normally listen to an artist's tunes for a bit before deciding whether to include them or not, and what to say about their work. Yet, the opening bars alone of "Blue Eyed Lullaby" where enough to convince me that your's was a definite yes, yes, and yes again! Your sound brings to mind all the art that made Lennon great (those opening chords instantly brought to mind 'Helter Skelter', as well as a very large smile!), as well as some very surprising and delightful original splashes of color that are definitely all your own.

What a talented guy. Beautiful tone to his voice. Earthstar is both melodic and haunting yet catchy. Spitting Feathers has a funky riff. Blue Eyed Lullaby very Gallagher-esque. Early Morning, upbeat tune with poetic, inspiring lyrics. Sally says clearly shows Costello inluence but a great song in its own right. And last but not least, Vicksburg Banjo Remix, reminds me of skipping along hand in hand with my best friend in our late teens - if I song can conjure up such beautiful memories its most certainly worth a listen.
