Join Peaceful Uprising on May 31 for a dinner party fundraiser for our Lakota friends with Owe Aku ("Bring Back the Way"), the group that’s organizing to stop the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline from coming through sacred Lakota land. There’ll be a delicious vegetarian and vegan dinner, dessert, poetry, music, dancing, a silent auction of skills offered by your fellow community members, and stories about their fight. If you know anything about the cross-regional fight to stop the Keystone XL, you know we’re doing this in the spirit of solidarity, not charity. Our Lakota friends are protecting not only their sacred waters and land, but a liveable future for all. Those of us with more resources owe them support and solidarity for standing boldly on the frontlines of a fight that will determine our collective future. Tickets must be purchased in advance. Please go to the link above to get them. Tickets are $20 - $75, sliding scale. Please give what you can to this incredibly important cause! UPDATE: We are thrilled to welcome a talented lineup of performers to the festivities, including several Diné singers, musicians, and poets. The amazing singers Pete Sands and Honey Rhonda will be sharing their talents, among others. We are honored and blessed to have them join this event to support indigenous communities fighting the Keystone XL pipeline! Dinner will be served from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Stories and poetry will begin at 7:30, followed by music and dancing. Wasatch Commons, a co-housing community in Salt Lake City. It’s just off Redwood Road, at 1411 S. Utah Street. If driving west down 1330 S, turn left on Utah St. and make a left into the parking lot. If you reach Redwood Road, you’ve gone too far. If driving north on Redwood Road, just make a right on California Ave (1330 S), a right onto Utah St., and a left into the Wasatch Commons parking lot (or park on the street if possible).
We are so fortunate to have been asked to play again at Gino's Bar and Grill. We had such a great time that last time we played there, so Blackkiss is looking forward to jamming here once again. Black Smoke GypsyBand will be headlining on this night, and they have some really killer tunes. So come on down and rock out with us. We guarantee you will have yourself a damn good time...damn good time, I tell ya. The #BlackkissCrew will all be present and so you will definitely feel the love, friends. We are set to play at 9pm, bringing our unique Sounds of the Desert to the city yet again. We shall be selling #Blackkiss shirts and handing out free CD's, so come by and grab yourself up some killer gear. Cigars and hugs will be accepted as a form of payment.
Blackkiss is damn grateful to have been asked to be on the Studio#5Alive Music TV show yet again. The last time we played here, it turned out to be a major success for us. We had such a great response and gained some new recognition. We are so grateful for this second opportunity once again. There is a $5 contribution to enter and its well worth it because you can be a part of the live studio audience and take part of the show. So please tune and help Blackkiss grow bigger, so soon we can be successful enough to help those who have helped us. Blessings all around. We play 7pm and if you cannot make it to the studio you can watch the show live!!! Yes, live!!! Studio#5Alive broadcasts the show live over the net, so you can catch us from you computer, cellphone, or tablet. Here's the link http://studio5alive.com/live-stream/ to watch the show. We go live at 7pm tomorrow night, live from Salt Lake City!!!!
