About
Perpetual Motion gives violin and acoustic guitar ensembles a new reputation as something that will get you up and moving. Their upbeat, high energy music and memorable melodies capture their audience’s attention and leaves them always wanting more.
Innovative, and original, Guitarist Tom Carleno and violinist Josie Quick are always looking for new genres to expand the boundaries of what violin and acoustic guitar can accomplish. The spontaneity of improvisation coupled with a never ending stream of musical influences gives this ensemble its unique character.
An evening with Perpetual Motion is a musical journey that will have you grooving to classic rock, relaxing by the beach with island and latin sounds, down and dirty with the blues, and tapping your toes to the sounds of swing.
Perpetual Motion is currently exploring their gypsy jazz side, with an upcoming CD of Django favorites, vintage gems, and a few originals for good measure. Stay tuned for release info!
Awarded Westword magazine’s “Best of Denver” for “Best Orchestral Maneuvering”, Perpetual Motion is a jazz ensemble that is well known for their original compositions. Perpetual Motion achieves a genre unto itself in part because the individuality of the musicians skills and influences are heard loud and clear. Violinist Josie Quick’s experience in classical chamber groups shows in her contrapuntal maneuverings around the guitar foundation laid by the considerable talents of composer Tom Carleno. Blake Eberhard’s innovative bass lines and Rob Chamberlin’s solid drums and percussion build an energetic underpinning. Come experience what Dave Thomas of the Denver Post called “a contemporary acoustic sonnet”.
