Receiving airplay on mainstream and college radio stations, Paul received critical praise for both his lyrics and guitar work.

The Visual Purple album contained some of Paul's most notable songs, including (in addition to the title cut) "Prozac Superman", "Stoneface" and the instrumental "Resurrection in Steel" (recently used in the British documentary, "Seeking Atlantis").
