About
Before Papasean Johnson came to be there were a few bands and various genres of music. His writing style came to be from listening to all styles of music from 70s and 80’s rock to the power pop hits of the 90’s. He started out playing classical guitar as a youngster but this wasn’t were his passion was. Wanting to emulate the guitar bands he listened to on the radio he bought his first electric guitar, a gibson explorer, peavey amp and fuzz box. Even though Sean knew how to read music he learned all his favourite tunes by ear. Improvising was what he loved to do the most, adding his own feel and interpretation to the music. Realizing he didn’t want to play other peoples music he decided to start writing his own. At the time Sean was not a singer he had the lyrics and the music but no one that wanted to spend the time involved with working on his songs. This was very frustrating to say the least, but kept on writing. Life continued on, he moved to Vancouver B.C. in the early 90’s from Northern Ontario and the music faded out of his life. Work, bills and the responsibilities of a young man took precedent now. Music was always in the back of his mind, waiting for the day he could get back at it. This seemed to be more of a fantasy than a reality after a while. In 2007 Sean lost a close friend and this changed his life. Deciding that his life was far off course he dove into writing. Within a year he released his first album called “ The Colours Of Blues” which he recorded the entirety himself. Now he needed to find some musicians to start playing shows. A few adds in the local paper later and he found himself a great drummer and bass player, Doug Collins and Louise Prevost. Now he was ready to start what he always wanted to do. In 2009 Papasean Johnson released his second album “Movin’ On” and from now on there is no looking back..
