I don't know whether this is Sasha's best song to date, but it's definitely her most sophisticated one. If you've listened to her stuff, you will realize right away that she's harnessed her awesome classical technique to produce this simple, beautiful vignette that just floats by like the view of the land she' describing, if you're driving out west. "W.Evans" doesn't tell a story, it records a moment, like a snapshot. It's as good as anything Nick Drake would have done, I think. It may be neat to just imagine what it's all about if you don't know who W. Evans was, but if you do, you'll get the theme of the song as well. You can also imagine just how you think this tune should sound when played with a full band. Maybe we'll hear it on the 21st at the Knitting Factory. Sasha will perform with a guitarist and possibly a drummer and a bass player. Can't wait.
Your songs are AWESOME!!
