Renaissance Through Devastation Album was recorded, mixed and mastered at Hertz Studio, Poland, by Slawek and Wojtek Wieslawski (Vader, Behemoth, Decapitated). Artwork by Pablo The Elephant. "... Manifest Of Refusal is certainly a hell of a lot better than a large handful of death acts you've seen reviewed on here over the past little while. It's thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish, but will most likely lack the significant personality required to impress many people who aren't already death metal fanatics..." http://www.metalstorm.net The band was formed in 1999 in the following line-up: Jacques - vocals, Demian - bass, Leonid - guitars, keyboards, Kirill - guitars, Vladimir - drums. Debut album “Jerk” was released early 2001 by Russian label Fono. The album laid down the foundation for original Stalwart-style, combining massive thrashcore rhythmic groove with atmospheric fragments and acoustic inserts. In summer 2002 Stalwart started to record the second album. Drum tracks were recorded in Astia Studio, Finland, with Anssi Kippo (Children Of Bodom, To/Die/For, Norther). The work demonstrated the significant progress by virtue of unusual consortium of angry riffs and symphonic keyboards. “Dive To Nowhere” was released October 2003 by MetalAgen/Soyz Music. Some of zines characterized it as “one of the best Russian metal releases 2003”, and the 8,5-minute title track became a trademark of band for a long time. For the next album famous Hertz Studio, Poland was booked with producers Slawek and Wojtek Wieslawski (Vader, Decapitated, Hate). This album became a debut for new guitar player Antuan. “Abyss Ahead” was released May 2008 on CD-Maximum, showed the more powerful and solid work in comparison with the previous one. Soon after original vocalist and drummer left the band. Nevertheless the newcomers Oleg Sobolevsky (vocals) and Tim Ismag (drums) raised the band to the new scale, importing more drive and energy. New Stalwart sound, much more hot, fast and aggressive, externalized itself on the next CD “Annihilation Begins”, also recorded at Hertz Studio, and released December 2009 by Metalism Records. Currently the band finished its 5th album “Manifest Of Refusal”, recorded with new drummer Alex. The CD is will be released worldwide by Canadian label PRC Music May 22th 2012. T.C.F. – “Where Madness Reigns” September 23, 2012 http://battlehelm.com/?cat=4 REVIEWS T.C.F. – “Where Madness Reigns” (Malevolence Records) It’s been a while since I’ve heard a crossover album this good – especially one that harks back to the good old days of the 80s when bands like SOD, DRI, Carnivore and Nuclear Assault reigned! T.C.F. actually hail from Holland but true Dutchies they are, do their tribute in fine style with just the right blend of hardcore and metal to knuckle you on songs like ‘An Eye For An Eye’, ‘We Will Survive’ and ‘Slave Of The Suit’. Aggro vocals are shouted out amid speedy thrashcore riffs, wild soloing and frenetic staccato drumming, all of which remain true to the original style, and what’s more is that it’s all done by just three guys (a metalhead, punk and thrasher no less lol) and so well an’ all. Complete with disco samples and a Mugabe speech, “Where Madness Reigns” is the best contemporary tribute to old school crossover currently whether you wanna fight, fuck or just go plain mental to it!
Septic Christ – “Guilty As We Were Born” September 23, 2012 http://battlehelm.com/?cat=4 REVIEWS Septic Christ – “Guilty As We Were Born” (Malevolence Records) Septic Christ are a buncha jolly Germans who play old school thrash when it was fun to do so i.e. before bands began taking themselves and their Bermuda shorts too seriously lol. Still, might as these guys may enjoy a beer or ten, don’t discount their music cos they certainly play tight and on ten! Relentless frash riffola, wang bar excess, stampeding drums and gruffola vox are guaranteed to bring on the mosh pit madness with songs like ‘Bomb Monte Carlo’, ‘Be A Man’ and ‘Screwed And Ill’. What’s even better is that this isn’t a retro trip but Septic Christ have done their homework and read the thrash bible diligently – as such their beats and rhythms, whilst drawing inspiration from decades gone by, are still very much tuned for today’s headbanger. Along with a classic 80s thrash album cover, Septic Christ remind me a lot of Municipal Waste, M.O.D, Anthrax or even early thrash bands like Re-Animator or Deathrow which is no bad thing when you wanna get beered up, tune in and let yer brain drop out!
