KAOS

Kaos - Validated In Blood [EP] 4 April 2012 01. United We Kill 02. Internal Bleeding 03. Alive To Die 04. Blood Red Eyes 05. Kill On Command [Vio-lence cover] Bay Area thrashers Kaos are back, following up 2010's The Pits Of Existence with the ripping five track EP Validated In Blood. Perhaps they caught my Exodus review diatribe regarding awesome thrash albums having "Blood" in the title. To borrow from myself, that diatribe is pertinent as it includes the line "quoth that horn-tossing Shakespeare dude, 'Brevity is the soul of thrash.'" "The Pits" might have suffered a bit as it was just a lot of album, even with good tracks backloaded an extended thrash blitz can drag. Validated In Blood not only has "in Blood" in the title, but is a short and sweet five tracks. Short enough it leaves you wanting more, and short enough it's mighty easy just to hit play again for another fix. There isn't terribly much new or innovative here (not that thrash lends itself particularly well to much innovation), but the release is just a gritty, frenetic burst of energy with crunchy riffs, some slow mosh chunks, and snarled/howled bile-laced vocals that is a blast. Factor in a swell cover of a track off one of my absolute top 5 favorite thrash albums ("Kill On Command" off Vio-lence' Eternal Nightmare) and Validated In Blood is a ripping good time. I liked their last album, it was good… Perhaps it's the brevity. Perhaps it is the never-ending slew of post-metal reviews. Perhaps it is the tip o' the cap to Vio-lence, or maybe the psychological impact of just adding "In Blood" to the album title, but I think this EP is a step forward and is something I'll keep in rotation when I need a burst of adrenaline and a change of pace. (Side note - their PR firm actually sent me a Christmas card. \m/ That made my holiday season.) Website: http://www.kaosamongus.com Performance: 8 Songwriting: 7 Originality: 6 Production: 7

T.C.F.

T.C.F. hailing from the Netherlands is a new phenomenon to me. Their new album “Where Madness Reigns” got a solid 82 point review from me earlier this year and is one of the reasons I visited Pooierfest. The band instantly delivered in spades with their catchy chorusses and riffs to die for. Stagedivers were all around and their numbers only increased as the PA sound got better and better. The circlepit raised the temperature levels to tropical values and thus I had to buy a nice white TCF shirt on the way out. Outstanding set!! AbsentiA

Spain Death Metal Review (Espanol) http://www.spaindeathmetal.com/index.ph ... &Itemid=18 Engliah : Absentia is an Asturian band which presents its second long with the title Our Bleeding Sun. The band's style is a perfect combination of melodic Death, Symphonic Black Metal and Gothic Metal! Imagine a mixture of Dark tranquillity, In Flames, Dimmu Borgir, Tristania, Teathre of Tragedy... Its themes are authentic works of art, with great melodies and plenty of orchestral arrangements, there is no doubt that we are before a great band! In the album you can find various shades of voices from the desgarrada and shrill more according to Black Metal, with other types of normal, female voices (which by the way I love nothing to envy to Liv Kristine!!) and all kinds of effects to combine with the already by Yes, rich musical variety. I love this work and as they go through the topics, we are aware of the great inspiration of these musicians to offer us a piece of work that any good music lover should taste. To listen to a band of this caliber, you come to mind the?, why not be bursting sales charts and playing in all the festivals worldwide recognition. What bad luck that have some bands with that of nationalities, but believe that we will succeed in overcoming this barrier that is both costing us, and at the end will succeed to find our way among the elite, here we have a candidate that has all the turn into one of those band acclaimed around the world! The riffs are excellent and as it could not be otherwise, you are virtuous punteos, accompanying the other instruments, his orchestral arrangements with backing vocals in the style of Tristania give really a majestic air all compositions. The album has approximate 45 minutes of duration and of 9 courts. The cover is very successful and the presentation is outstanding, with cardboard sleeve. I said if you want to discover an excellent band, pay attention to these teachers, that have managed to Captivate me with an album that has positioned itself among the very best of what I heard in that it far this year! 5 STAR REVIEW !!!
