Road trip!

Hanging with all these musicians Rocked! My first stop was at Bertha's. I got to meet some of the musicians who hang out there. Wed. I went to Jimmy's Old Town Tavern. I wish I lived closer. I would visit more often. Jimmy's Old TownTavern in Herndon, VA, Is a laid back Pub, with fantastic food and friendly people out to have fun. Jimmy's has an open mike night on Wed., which is really cool. Jimmy's band sets up around 9 pm. They start plying around 9:30 for about 30-45 min. After that anyone can sign up to share their talents. You can bring your own instruments or use Jimmy's. You can sing, play guitar, drums or whatever you want that fits your taste. There was so much talent there, It was so very cool! I wish I could be there every week! Thursday was another great experience. I was at the Zoo Bar in Washington DC. This is another Pub type of place. Fantastic food and friendly atmosphere was all about this place. I was honored to meet Big Boy Little Band. These guys are at the Zoo Bar every Thurs night with an open mike session. This is set up like Jimmy's open mike. You get to hear Brett and the band play first and then you can sign up to play the instrument of your choice. If you sing, the band backs you up. if you play, you can play along with Big Boy. You don't have to be a professional to join in on the fun. I must say everyone I hear was really good. I recommend stopping by if you plan to visit the DC area. You can just sit, eat and enjoy the live entertainment if you don't want to share your talent. It was an Awesome night! Friday which was my Birthday was another great night. My family and I went to Bertha's for a wonderful meal. It just so happened that it was the Pirate Festival. I had a great meal, crab cake sandwich, and to top it off a band of Pirates sang me Happy Birthday! I loved it. There was a live Blues band playing there. Terence McArdle and Co. This was a really good Blues band. These guys were down to earth and friendly. The customers enjoyed the entertainment, as I did. Bertha's is located in Fells Point in Baltimore MD. If you want to go out for fine food and a laid back atmosphere, Bertha's is the place to go. Sat the Pirate festival continued. There were Pirates everywhere. The Pirates had a great band that played all afternoon. They were so much fun that people couldn't stand still. This is one Festival you don't want to miss! A nice little walk in one direction is the sound Garden. Any type of music, old and new is there. This place has old time Rock and roll on vinyl. It was amazing a real smorgasbord of music! Another wok along the inner Harbor takes you to The Hard Rock. The staff there just can't be beat. Baltimore is jam packed full of great things to do. I highly recommend it. Sunday was the last day of my amazing tour. I was fortunate enough to go to the Hamilton in Washington, DC., which featured the Walking Sticks, Drew Gibson, and the Vespers. These bands are really off the hook when it comes to talent. The three of the meshed well with each other. The music is laid back with a Country Folk sound. I have to say that my favorite was Drew Gibson. He is a great guy and his band fits him well. So much fun all squeezed into six days. What an experience! Now that Rocks!
