Walk the Path

Walk the Path- Halim Hafez, The Dark Skin Nightingale (1973)-- Translation: The night embraces the worries, there is no moonlight, there is no stars. I walked, I walked, I walked the path, and my steps, my steps, got longer and longer. The wind, the wind is churning my way. Oh! the journey of pain, oh the life of sorrow. I walked the path for many years; the path got weary, but I didn't shatter. I endured my pain, and walked on my despair. I dissolve my doubts with every sunrise. And I got lost, lost, in the middle of the crowd and I continue, I will continue my journey, my journey of pain.

Creative Metaphors

The upside of metaphors is transforming abstract thoughts into attainable visions. The downside, though, is that people hear what they want to hear and they get hurt when they are wrong.

Dark-Skinned Nightingale: Abdel Halim Hafez Story

Orphaned at birth and stigmatized by his village, Abdel Halim Hafez turned to music. He grew up in an orphanage and at age 14, he joined the Egyptian Music Institute, and learned to play multiple instruments. His first break came as a last-minute draft to substitute for a singer in On-The-Air performance; only to be heard by a famous radio broadcast supervisor who offered him a record deal and served as his mentor. At the peak of his success, he lost his beloved fiancée to a chronic illness; a tragedy he never recovered from and is reflected on his heartfelt throbbing songs. All through his life, he struggled with a water-born parasitic disease (Schistosomiasis), which took his life from liver failure at age 47 in Kings College Hospital in London on March 30, 1977. Egyptians deeply mourned his death and till today, he inspired the 2011 Egyptian Revolution with his patriotic songs. Translated Lyrics of “Message from underwater”: Singer: Abdel Halim Hafez-1974
http://youtu.be/UYTwYkSFoM0
If you were my love, please help me to leave you,
If you were my doctor, help me to be cured of you.......

If I had known that love is very dangerous, I wouldn't have fallen in love
If I had known that the sea is so deep, I wouldn't have sailed
If I had known my fate, I wouldn't have started……..

I yearned for you, so teach how not to yearn.
Teach me how I could cut the roots of your love from the depth of my soul
Teach me how the tears would dry and cries would die in the orbits
Teach me how love could pass away and longings would perish

You, who made the world appears to me, like a verse of poem,
Planted the seed of your wounds into my chest, and took away my patience.
If you endear me, please take my hands. I am deeply in love from my head to my toes.

The blue waves in your eyes, calls me to the depth of the sea…I don’t have experience in love and I don’t have a boat or safeguard. I am breathing underwater, I am drowning, drowning, drowning……….

If I had known that love is very dangerous, I wouldn't have fallen in love
If I had known that it’s sea is so deep, I wouldn't have sailed
If I had known my fate, I wouldn't have started….

Friendship in a Nutshell

People share their significant life events with their friend knowing that she or he has their best interest at heart and will support them rain or shine. And if they are not sure of that; it is not friendship! At the heart of friendship are loyalty and trust.

NY Ban on Weapons Constitutional

A federal judge ruled on Tuesday that New York’s expanded ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines was constitutional. But he struck down the mandate for banning gun owners from loading their firearms with more than seven rounds, citing that the arbitrary number restriction violates the Second Amendment.

Sandy Hook

One year after Sandy Hook Elementary mass shooting, where are we? Still No Gun Control, no universal background check, still another school shooting.

Friendship-Ralph Waldo Emerson

"The glory of friendship is not the outstretched hand, not the kindly smile, nor the joy of companionship; it is the spiritual inspiration that comes to one when you discover that someone else believes in you and is willing to trust you with a friendship". – Ralph Waldo Emerson
