just went through our bookings and realized we have topped the 50 date plateau again this year. We've been very fortuate to average over 70 shows a year since the bands inception and hopefully we're well on the way there again this year .Can't begin to thank the venues and friends, family and fans that have allowed us to reach this level , and also appreciate the bandmates that travel all over doing this thing we love doing.
March has arrived and it doesn't feel much different than January. As we roll into spring we are very proud to be involved with some worthwhile events and organizations. We started the year with The Daily Times Weekend Section 15th Anniversary party, a great friend to KUDZU and a super fun time. March sees the band performing at a benefit for a longtime member of the Maryville American Legion and a return to the OAA Center in Madisonville for the Full Throttle Warriors Blessing of the Bikes. April will have the band performing at a benefit for fallen soldier Frankie Watson's Scholarship Foundation as well as the "Rock the Cradle" benefit to help the Blount Co. Infant Safe Place program. One true thought of all the band is that charity begins at home and we are very proud to particiapte in each of these wonderful events. Add these to our regular schedule of shows and KUDZU has 44 performances on the books for 2013; the majority in the first 6 months. With this schedule, we may well break our record of 75 shows form 2011. We hope to see everyone at a show, or better yet, shows very soon.
the holidays have come and gone and we hope they were wonderful for you. As 2013 rolls on we have already scheduled nearly 40 shows visiting some old haunts for the first time in a while. We also have been getting the ball rolling on work for our third CD. if all goes well, a new KUDZU Cd should be ready to go by late this year or early 2014. Again we can't thank everyone for all the support we have been shown and hope to keep the vine growing!!! Look forward to seeing you at a show very soon!
In this world that at times has seemed to gone crazy as a friend of ours says, it's so comforting to know that the holidays will bring out the very best in the human nature. Seeing the wide eyed wonder of children or the smiles on the faces of old friends sharing the holidays season together is one of the most wonderful things that anyone can experience. As it is also a time to be thankful, KUDZU is beyond thankful for all the people we have met, all the venues we have been fortunate enough to perform at and overall the ability to do something we truly enjoy and hopefully others do as well. Keep good thoughts of those less fortunate than yourself at the forefront this season and please never forget the real reason we celebrate this time of year. Its not about an iPad or a big screen, but the joyous birth of a child born into the meekest and barest of circumstances. Merry CHRISTMAS and Happy New Year from KUDZU!!!!
October has arrived and I hope its getting the reaining out of its system early. Biggest opportunity for the band this month as we perform at the Foothills Fall Festival opening for Train and Andy Grammar. Hope our mix of country rock will go over well with the crowd. Thius is one of those opportunities you can't buy ( well you can but it cost a lot of butt kissing and selling your soul). I hope all who can will make it out and support not just us but all the local acts as well as the Festival and keep the great event rolling along. Want to wish a happy birthday to little JJ Kelso as he turns the big 1. He his daddy and mom will always be part of the KUDZU family. Well thats all til I think of something else t blater on about!!!
as the new line up gets settled, KUDZU is growing tighter by the show. Jack Pribek has taken on lead vocals in a half dozen songs with more to come. Its always good to have a second vocalist in the group and one that differs in style than the regular vocals supplied by Tim Flatford. New drummer Avery Rogers has stepped up with lead vocals on a couple of tunes with plans to add more in the future to add a third lead vocalist to the mix. The previous incarnation of the band had other lead vocalists as well, so this is an extention of that versatility. Bringing in two new musicians into the fold so closely together and getting their feet under them with a repotoire of over 150 songs could have been an imposing task, but due to the quality and ability of Jack and Avery as musicians, that transition has been as smooth as could be imagined. Make your way out to a show soon and see for yourself. 2013 is on the horizon and plans are beginning to take shape for a third KUDZU CD if the stars line up correctly. Til next time....
well more changes on the horizon as we head into the fall. Founding member Justin Kelso has stepped down from the drum riser to focus on career and family. The addition of Jack on guitar and vocals has given KUDZU a new facet to explore and we are enjoying refreshing some of our older songs. Sure does make them fun to play again. We think we may have our drum situation under control as well. Hope everyone will come out to a show very soon and check us out. You'll hear new material and material as you havent heard it before....
we are very pleased to welcome aboard a new member to the KUDZU family. Jack Pribek has joined us on lead guitar and vocals. Jack is a veteran of the Branson Mo. music theater scene and brings a wealth of knowledge, style and experience to the KUDZU sound. Come out to a show soon and say hello to the new leaf on the vine.
well we are in the midst of spring and its already heating up. Before too long we will be in the dead of the summer. No better way to enjoy the summer than with a cold beverage at one of our shows. In addition to some of our regular venues, we are happy to be adding The Roaming Gnome in Maryville, the Thirsty Turtle in Maryville and The River Rock Bar and Grill in Vonore to our list. Be watching Reverbnation and Facebook for our upcoming dates at these great venues! Also remember to get a copy of our latest CD "Not Afraid" its available at all our shows and at Hastings in Maryville!!!
looking forward to February and the release of our second CD "Not Afraid". Twelve new songs and we hope that everyone will find one or two or more that they want to play over and over again! Release date is Feb 29th, we'll keep you up to date!
