On a busy morning, a nurse in the crowded emergency room seated an elderly gentleman who had come to have stitches removed from his hand. He said, "I'm in a hurry, nurse. I have an appointment in an hour." As the line of patients ahead of him moved slowly he kept looking anxiously at his watch. Knowing he'd never make his appointment, the nurse led him to an examination room, checked his vital signs and evaluated the condition of his wound. Seeing it was well-healed, she consulted with one of the doctors and got clearance to remove his sutures and re-dress his wound. She asked, "Are you hurrying to another doctor's appointment?" He said, "No, I'm on my way to have breakfast with my wife at the nursing home." She asked about his wife's health and learned she was a victim of Alzheimer's disease. "Will she be upset if you're late?" The old man told her she hadn't recognized him in five years. Surprised, the nurse asked, "And you still go to see her every morning, although she doesn't know who you are?" The old man smiled, patted her hand and replied, "Oh, yes. She doesn't know who I am, but I still know who she is!"
I am learning how to be thankful for everything, all the time. There are so many days that we spend complaining about things that we seldom take the time and give thanks. For some, having just a day to be thankful is a major accomplishment. That is great if you are one of them. For me though, it's important to maintain an attitude of gratitude. As a Minister, Teacher, Husband and Father, I must be an example of a positive, grateful person because I have so many looking up to me for guidance. I pray that God guide me in being that example in every area of my life, I also, pray for those who are just discovering thankfulness. May their journey to change continue for a lifetime.
I felt what a day is like to not have my time and talk with God. I must have it or my day feels like it is going nowhere. Friday, Nov. 18 was one of those days that I missed my time with him and my whole day felt like something was missing. We MUST talk with HIM before we talk with THEM!
So today was a very interesting day. I went up to my daughter's class to volunteer to help the teacher. While I was there, I looked around and saw a sight I was totally happy about. There were like three other fathers that were there helping children with work and helping teachers. Wonderful sight to see!
I am heading into this week knowing that there is a little bit of a challenge ahead of me. The beautiful thing about it, is that it's working for me in that it's giving me a little more to pray about. Challenges may knock us down but as long as we fall to our knees, we'll be okay.
Just got invited to sing on a track by an East Coast artist. This music is great. Gotta listen to the track and vibe so I can write to it for my part. Beat is hot for sure. Stay tuned! In the meantime, follow me on Twitter and Facebook.
Just getting into this thing. I am embarking on a new journey, promoting the first album while prepping to work on the next one. I have an idea about what I want to do, just can't share it yet until I have a more solid decision.
