Still Waiting

Not much happening, still waiting for Taylor Swift to call me to play drums on her next tour. Maybe she lost my number??

The trials of Indie artists...

I have been in cover bands, bands that played a mix of covers and originals, and an original only band. The degree of popularity (and money made) seemed directly proportional to the number of covers vs. originals. I think it is hard to get an audience for Indie original music.

Split Gig

Interesting night at Lot 33. Seems the manager double booked and another band was setting up when we got there! They (Ruination) were very gracious and we agreed to split the night. They played 9-11 and we played 11-1. So it all worked out. We should get another booking at Lot 33, hopefully soon, and hopefully just us!

Next Gig!

Spit in the Devils Eye is playing at Lot 33 in Des Moines on January 26, starting at 9 PM. See the map on this page for directions - be there or be square!

They're Back!

The Spit in the Devils Eye power trio is gigging again!

Online collaborations

"Anna Virginia" featuring KJ Evans on vocal is a true online collaboration. We have never met face to face, she lives in New York (recently moved to Jersey I believe) and we in Iowa. She heard our song online and liked it and I loved her voice, so I took this song, written by Jerry Groff, and laid down a guitar track (with a classic acoustic instrument; Fender Strat) added a harmonica track, and sent it to KJ. She added the vocal track and "Voila"!

New Mix

Check out "Hole in the Road". This is a song about clinical depression, suffered by many. Jerry wrote this; sings lead and plays guitar. I added backing vocal, drum, harmonica, and bass tracks.

Much better!

Just figured out that the chart position on this site is for the greater Des Moines area, not just Polk City. This is great because only about 15 people live in Polk City!
