Finally, I am starting to get back into the groove again of everyday music back in Seattle. Europe was a whirl wind of fun and so much has inspired me that I wanted to let you all know what was going on in the Wonderful World of Whitney!
When I arrived back in the U.S. on October 31st, I felt happy and sad at the same time. I just had the time of my life and now it is back to work. Sometimes the music industry is a hard thing to swallow. You have to be aware of the fact that this business is sometimes about unimportant things like looks, plastic beats, money, who you know and other unknown devices that separate one from fame/fortune and the love of music. When I was in Amsterdam, towards the end of my trip, I began to think about life back home. What is it going to be like going back to playing on the streets again? Where do I want to go from here? What do I REALLY want from my music career and how do I plan on achieving it? All of these questions have still been filling my mind since I've been home but recently I think I have come up with some revelations. After all, I must evaluate these things every time I make a move or decide to plan for the future.
I have decided recently that I was going to create a band, book shows, finish my LP, go on a Fall 2012 tour, and continue to stay true to myself. Even though it seems like a mountain, I will climb until I reach the top if that is what it takes. I am making the transition from being expendable to irreplaceable by continually believing in my dream; A BETTER ME = A BETTER WORLD.
I hope these words bring you hope through the cold long winter in whatever endeavors life may bring you. If I can do it, so can you!
May you frequently ask yourself the hardest questions and reach answers with joy.
