Philo's Notes Sept 17, 2010

Hola everyone, More rain coming? Your kidding me. Hurricane Karl is on it's way crossing through central Mexico bringing more rain. Yikes! I had to wait 3 days for them to clear the Highway 200 out of Puerto Vallarta before I could leave. It made me miss my gig at the Longhorn Smoke house here in San Miguel. And more on it's way. Crap! Check out this news video about the damage done.

http://www.pvpulse.com/en/puerto-vallarta-news/flood-damage-repairs-hwy-200-video?ref=nf If all hell doesn't break out from the Hurricane, or should I say, come hell or high water, we will be at the longhorn this Saturday night starting at 7 p.m. Come help us celebrate everything that's going on, including the weather.

Wow! What a great week here in San Miguel de Allende. Mexico's 200th birthday. 200 years ago Wednesday, Father Hildalgo, stood on the Church steps in Delores Hidalgo, (about 30 min from here) and shouted the "cry for Independence," (El Grito de la Independencia), starting the revolution that freed the country from Spanish rule.

My friend Anne says, San Miguel is dressed and ready to party! San Miguel de Allende is the home town of General Allende, the other main leader that started the Revolution.

September 16 is the official day, but the festivities began in August and will continue until after the new year. There are bullfights and concerts, speeches and fireworks, and most fun of all, historical reenactments including a cavalcade of horses riding into town on the street called Avenida Independencia.

And here it is Folks. Another video. Another song from my soon to be released album "South Of The Border." This is a song I wrote called "Buddies In The Saddle" and goes out to all of you who have been together for a long time and are still best friends. I hope you enjoy. Just click on the address below.
