Third radio #1 and new album for Doug Bruce

A broke down heart ain’t so bad… It’s the song that grabs you with the very first beat of the kick drum, and it’s the one that has shot Doug Bruce up the charts quicker than any of his previous hits. Self-penned and produced, Broke Down Heart. is the first release off Doug’s brand new album, Somewhere Better to Be and it has just landed the #1 position on Australia’s Country Tracks Top 40 chart. The new album, Somewhere Better to Be has just been released and is already gaining incredible reviews from all over the world. Planet Country magazine in Italy says the album “offers us a decidedly new-traditionalistic sound, but far from the modern pop that has long since established itself amongst the majors” (http://www.planetcountry.it/?p=2345) Broke Down Heart is one of ten tracks on the new 13 track album written by Doug. It includes a couple of co-writes and songs penned by Lorn Wolf (Canada), Brit Stokes (Nashville), Gary Shierra (Nashville) and Deryl Dodd (Nashville). The musicians on the album were chosen from local talent (including some of the members from Doug’s performance band, The Tailgaters) as well as Nashville-based steel player, David Spires (who has performed with Shania Twain, Jo Dee Messina, Josh Turner and Craig Campbell) and Jenee Fleenor (who has recorded for Rascal Flatts, Terri Clark, Don Williams, and toured with Martina McBride, Terri Clark and currently with Blake Shelton) on fiddle and mandolin. Somewhere Better to Be is available for digital download and physical copy at www.cdbaby.com/dougbruce6. It is also available in select stores, or can be ordered directly from the artist by emailing doug@dougbruce.com.au The video clip for Broke Down Heart is also rising on the Country Music Channel Top 30 Countdown. Set in central Victoria, Australia, it tells the story of a poor soul who has broken up with his girlfriend, searching for a new companion. New album, single success and award noms

Just got back from an awesome Tamworth CM Festival - full houses at every one of our 17 shows and the joints were jumpin' to our new tunes...so rewardiing to see people enjoying the songs from the new album! 2013 really has begun on a very positive musical note, with two nominations in Australia’s prestigious Country Music Channel Awards, and the first single from the new album 'Made That Way" rocketing up the Australian Country Tracks Top 30, currently sitting at #8. The video for Made That Way (www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8sUBlPb5cw ) has also jumped into the Country Music Channel (CMC) top 50 at #36. So thanks to everyone who has been requesting the song on radio and CMC! The album has been featured on the nationally syndicated radio programmes Good Morning Country, CMRonline and ABC's Saturday Night Country. All reports are that the single is getting generous airplay in Europe too.

My first nominations in the CMC Music Awards last year has been followed up in the 2013 awards, again netting nominations for Oz Artist of the Year and Australian Video of The Year, based on song airplay, joining the likes of Lee Kernaghan, Adam Brand and Troy Casser-Daly in receiving two nods. The Tailgaters and I are scheduled to perform at many of the major country music festivals this year, including CMC Rocks the Hunter, along with international acts Rascall Flatts, Big and Rich and Billy Ray Cyrus. We are also about to begin the “Cowboys & Honky Tonks Tour” with fellow #1 hitmaker Roo Arcus, around Australia in the coming months.

Made That Way album is available for preview and purchase on CD Baby at www.cdbaby.com/dougbruce4 as well as digitally, including on iTunes at https://itunes.apple.com/au/album/made-that-way/id594384706

See you at one of ous shows soon I hope!

Sweet goings on

Hi all, a couple of cool things to report to keep this blog thingy active. SWEET, my latest single from "A Good Place" album made it to # 2 (for 3 weeks) on Australia's Country Tracks Top 30 (Nationally) and in a few top tens of local radio network charts (including #1 on HotFM). The video clip got to #17 on the Country Music Channel and has been hanging in the top 50 countdown for over 3 months now (and still hanging in there after jumping up again last week!). Made it as a finalist in two categories of the CMC Music Awards in March (best video and Oz artist) - didn't take a gong but rapt to be in amongst it. Had awesome time playing at CMC Rocks the Hunter, and can't wait to do it again next year! Took out Male Vocalist and Best Collaboration at the resurrected TIARA awards this month. Next big gig is Urban CM Festival in Caboolture. Some NSW and Vic gigs thereafter, and then the Gympie Muster. More cool gig announcements soon too so keep checking back on our events page. I'm on TWITTER now so feel free to follow - DougBruceMusic Cheers for now Doug

Doug I am so Proud of you ... how exciting and you bet i'll follow you on Twitter. *smiles*

Success of old, hopes for the new!

Been too long since I've got on here! Hopefully most people are connected with me on Facebook (dougbruce.com/doug.bruce1) and have been able to follow some of the happenings. Blown away when 'Coffey Road' was two weeks at the number 1 position on Australia's Country Tracks Top 30. My first numero uno! 'Honky Tonk Shoes' had nearly got there, staying at number 2 for three weeks. Now we have just released 'Sweet', an upbeat, optimistic song that will have you belting out the lyrics as you cruise along the highway! The video clip was great fun to make so I hope you enjoy that too http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Qjh2UzR_30 Keep well everyone. Doug

Highest selling artist at National Music Muster...and more awards news

Hey guys, we have just returned from some busy time touring and having a ball! Gympie Music Muster was a big one, and I'm stoked to say that my album, A Good Place, was the highest selling product of the event! If you know of the other artists that were performing, you'll be as blown away as I am at that statistic! I was also honored to recently be awarded Most Popular Artsist at teh Country Music Guild of Australasia's presentation night last week. Also have my fingers crossed for the Southern Stars Independent Country Music Awards next month - where I am a finalist in three categories - Album of the Year, Single of the Year, and Best Male Vocalist. Strong competition and just honoured to be amongst them - cliched I know but true. Keep your eye out for some exciting new gig announcements soon. Catch you at a show soon! Cheers Doug

Howdy

Hey there everyone. Just got my profile and music up here on ReverbNation so checking in. Thanks for all the new friends (and old!) that have got behind me and my band, The Tailgaters, lately. We are working real hard at getting as many gigs as we can so that y'all get to hear us live. Victoria is the most achievable at the moment but if we get enough support in other states there's a good chance we can hit your town too. Been working really hard on getting the new album out - August is the plan. Producing it in my studio (Shoo Fly Studios) here in Bendigo again, having made some acoustic adjustments and basically making it bigger. The album will feature the songs of some fantastic writers, as well as some of my own work on their. Really excited about how it is coming together. Cheers for now Doug
