Three Shades Blue / Blog

Have you seen the NEW 3 Shades Blue?!?

Hey TSB fans! It's been quite a while since we updated the blog, and there have been many exciting things happening lately! First, we have brought back our original singer, Eric Michener!! Eric and John have combined their vocal talents, trading off between lead vocals and harmonies. Eric played Bass Guitar before, but now he is adding a new dimension to the live TSB sound on Rhythm Guitar! If you haven't been to a TSB show lately, you MUST see and hear the new 4-piece lineup for yourself! Also, if you didn't know already, we have been recording our 3rd studio album at Mike McClure's Boohatch Studio in Oklahoma. Mike has recorded and produced many artists in the TX Country/Red Dirt scene including Cross Canadian Ragweed, Turnpike Troubadours, Whiskey Myers, and Johnny Cooper, just to name a few. He is also the singer for The Great Divide and his own Mike McClure Band. This new album will showcase our new 4-piece sound with both Eric and John on vocals. So that's about it for what's new with TSB. We hope to see you at a show soon! Rock on!

2012, Going out with a BANG!

2012 may be winding down, but TSB is just getting warmed up! Several amazing and exciting things are happening, and new opportunities continue to present themselves every day.

In case you didn't know, the new album is coming along nicely. We have posted a few samples and will continue to post more as they become ready. If you haven't yet, check out "Laughin & Blue" and "Parade". Feel free to send us feedback as well, just keep in mind that the new songs we post are only roughly mixed samples.

Moving on to TSB Live news, we are still pumped from the Brownwood Reunion show with Rick Springfield. Amazing does not begin to describe how it felt to do a show for such a HUGE audience, and to have them hang on every note. We are determined to do many more shows like that and SOON!

That's about all for now, but be sure to check our Show calendar to see when we will be in your area next. See you then!

Gearing up for the next album!

It's been a while since we posted, so thought I would share what's going on in TSB land. 2012 has started off with a bang! We are very busy, gaining new fans and impressing new venues. We would like to thank you all for your continued support, especially the superfans that make the extra effort to be at every show, even out on the road! We could not do this without you! Also, we have started making plans for our next studio album! The songs are written, we just have to work out the best arrangements, then we can start recording. Our last album took over a year to complete, recording part-time between shows, but during that time, we learned a lot, so we are hoping we can get this one done in a shorter period of time. Of course, as before, we will release rough versions of the songs once we feel they are ready to be heard. Feel free to give us feedback, as so many of you did before. It lets us know if we are on the right track, or if something needs to be tweaked a bit. Tonight we have our first full-band rehearsal/album strategy meeting to hash out some rough arrangements, then tomorrow we are gonna rock the roof off at Shooters on N. Mockingbird! We hope to see you ALL there!

2012, Dreaming BIG!

well, as most of our fans know, the album is out, has been for a while now.... We are having pretty good success with sales. Surprisingly the downloads on iTunes are really taking off! This year promises to be a great year, remember WE CAN'T DO IT WITHOUT YOU!!! peace love and tacos, Ric

In the studio

I know I know, you keep hearing about this "album" we are recording... Well guess what, WE ARE MIXING IT THIS COMING WEEKEND! Ryky and I are finishing up the drum tracks this week, so no more canned drums on the tracks! For those of you fans that were around when Eric was singing for us and playing Bass, we are having some fun with a special track: "If I Fall " was the last song we recorded with Eric, and was slated to be the first on this album, then Eric had to leave the band for personal reasons (a 3 year long set-back). Well, we decided to make it track 1 on this album. John of course will be singing lead, but most of the background vocals are the original tracks we did with Eric! It sounds VERY cool! Much of the bass playing is Eric as well. It's like the "transitional" song from "old TSB" to "New TSB." There will be 10 studio cuts, and 2 live acoustic songs on the album. I will keep you posted!!! Ric

Ah it's good to be back!

Yes it feels so good to be back playing gigs! Had a really good show at Strawberry's Friday night, and Saturday at the Depot was awesome. The Depot is so huge and cavernous it felt like we were playing in a stadium. Now it is on to Remington's this coming Friday & Saturday.......into the Future and BEYOND!

Gearing Up

Hey Blue Crue, Here we are FINALLY gearing up for some live shows! It seems like it's been YEARS since we played live. Well, it has actually as TSB (except for a couple of short sets here and there). We are very excited about all of the upcoming shows. The new Album is almost done, and will be out in December (Just in time for CHRISTmas) but it never ends. We have already started work on the next one! Hopefully by April 2011 we will have 2 albums out, and we will also make the 2006 E.P. available as well. We are going to be making some great offers in the coming year available to Street team members as prizes for promoting TSB, including free downloads, free CD's, T-shirts, and even a FREE performance at a private party for one lucky street team member! Stay tuned campers! Remember, bands don't make fans, FANS MAKE BANDS!!!! Love you all, Ric
